Nothing exciting. As crowded as it was you'd have expected a couple of midairs or spectacular crashes but nothing major to report. Lot's of regulars chitchating, a real social scene. I guess most people were smart enough to stay down when it gets that busy except the trainers and Jets. The trainers don't know better and the Jets seem less suseptable to getting hit, maybe it's the speed.

maybe it is because there are far less planes in the air when the jetss come up?

I'm not sure if you saw T-Bone put in is war-bird. He said that it was radio interference which slammed the plane to the ground during a low pass. He is using an old receiver that has this trouble on a regular basis. The plane and engine were heavily damaged.

Eddy also found some guy with the same channel radio turned on while he was getting ready to start the jet. The scanner found this out in time.

I was there at my usual start time of 7:30 a.m. There was a midair between a .90size(?) cub and a 3D something or other. A couple other planes went in as well. I was over at the Heli pads and saw Jason's(not Somes) .60 size Zero go cartwheeling off the end of the runway. Says it was a hit or maybe a glitch. Either way, he can drag a wingtip at 130 so I don't think it was him........
I usually leave around noon so I can't speak about later.

How often do we hear someone blame a radio hit when they put one in? T-Bone is a nice guy to talk to but, flying past a crowded line inches from the deck (especially with a pyle of crap) is irresponsible. Go ahead and try to talk to him about it though, you'd be just as well off talking to the windsock cause it would go in one side and come out the other.

Good thing for scanners and eddy using one. Losing one Jet in a week is plenty and especially losing one to a numbnuts without the flag would especially suck.

Been flying at the basin since 97' off and on. It can turn into a furball pretty quick. Flew the Eurosport first 2 flights 3 Saturdays ago at high noon. We were just asking for it. We survived but not without flying form with a flight of 5 .40 sized trainers and 5 more buddy boxes to boot. Took my sport model out today because I had gotten so lucky before. Bad descision, big midair with a H-9 J-3 Cub. Oh well. No more weekends for me, I think its just pushing a bad one at the basin on weekends. Frequency control is NIL there and the weekends REALLY get bad. Some guys get Pi**ssed there even when you ask them what freq. they are on. Bummer for the hobbie but a perfect place to fly a model airplane.

Ya know, I actually don't know who T-Bone is although I've heard his name mentioned many times. The Jason I was referring to is a 16year Japanese Kid and his Dad, Joe, maintains their planes meticulously.

Hey Whiteside, I guess that was you and the cub that I had mentioned earlier. Sorry for your loss. The cub guy said he only had a broken prop?

Rojer!
That would be me. Trying to train my Brother in law to fly RC. He was down from Nor-Cal on last day of vacation. All last night on RealFlight and high hopes this A.M. After the midair I made him go to the hobbyshop today and get set up with a .40 sized trainer to bug the rest of the jet guys!
