Very fun thread guys! I fly there hi guys. I have a love hate for the place and it is a very special place for me. Please be aware that the Giant Scale Squadron is a MAJOR force behind the creation and maintenance of that field. They were there way back when. It is an interesting ecosystem and social laboratory. I am always learning something from someone there. The dangers are ever present. There and ways to avoid them but accidents do happen. You know I've been on both ends of them. I am learing to fly there and it's really great. Very rare in such a densely populated area to be able to do what we do. Great to see you guys today!

Hi Joe,

Nice pic of the Patty Wagstaff.

Are you wearing your woolly hat in the pic?

I could always grovel, whimper and bribe them with a CD of Eric Clapton playing 'Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf'

Hi Joe,

It's the phrase that was taught to the Patricia Neal to command the robot (its name was Gort or Dork, or something) to protect you in the classic science fiction film The Day The Earth Stood Still, with Michael Rennie.

Or, as you said, it's a open wound type sushi.

Joe,

Lousy weather. 65 and cloudy.

Park ranger showed up yesterday because Eddy took his turbine up to a reported 1600 feet and turned on the smoke prompting a heli pilot to radio the tower. No tickets issued, unfortunately

Only saw 3 crashes in about three hours.

Ken had SEVEN cans flying on the fence at once.

Only one person started a conversation about my plane with "HOW MUCH DOES THAT COST".

Several people talked crap about several other people.

Some old guys that don't fly pointed out what people who do fly were doing wrong.

Saw a lot of cool full scale planes fly over on their way to this weekend's air show.

Actually nothing out of the ordinary.

Yours truly....

well this is just my 2 cents but the basin is ownes by the City of Los Angeles. It is in the water and power flood control district. the local club maintains the field area, but the city takes care of the roads and fences. the rest room facilitys and all the blacktop was provided by the city. I work for the city and in fact paved some of the roads in the area. I try to take my lunch there every day when I can as I love to watch the planes, and no joke.......the trash cans are full most every day with wreckage. It is a great place to go with a light breeze and sunny southern california weather. Tim

Tim,
It is my understanding that the Clubs raised the money for the asphalt to repave the runways and pits and the city did the work.
