Bob Tarlau was the announcer for the day, and the honor of turning on the new charging system was given to Willy Gardner for all his hard work.
The improvements to the Park Flyer facilities were conceived, designed and implemented under the leadership of our past President, Jason Pakfar.

It did not take long for flyers to start to make use of the new facilities.

Unfortunately, the Night fly at the field this Saturday has been cancelled. Parks & Recs has told us that they will not issue a permit for an after dark event at this time.

Wow, that reminds me of the old Johhny Carson routine. How broke is the city? They are so broke, they can't afford nighttime.

Yeah I know..Aboslutely ZERO

What a crock of S__t!!!!!

It cost them absolutely nothing to allow that event, the park police are on duty any ways and there is no other personaell required.

I love the basin, lived here all my life, but Californai and it's BS is about to drive me out of here.

Just a note to let the local guys know that we have Tam's Strut upgrade for the E-flite 15-25 retracts (HABU 32 !!) coming in this week.
We will also be supplying MEGA 6s and 8s motors to  fit the stock E-flite 80mm EDF.  The 6s motor is a slightly hotter kv than the E-flite motor. but the resistance is less and the motor is longer (cooler operation)

You can save some $ by picking up locally in Valencia, or when I come down to the basin.
We have a HABU and two fan units for testing.

Thanks, Gary

Thanks Billy.
I just ordered a couple of MEGAs for the 8s  setup.  I'm offering the motor for the stock fan, as a lower cost option for more speed. The other currently available 80mm option is $550 for a fan and motor. (very nice, just lots of $) Once the Habu airframe shows up here, well look at the possibility of fitting a larger fan unit as another option.

From todays PR Email....

This past weekend's heavy rains not only took out Sunday's Scale Fly-In, but left considerable damage to Apollo XI Field. Dave Sweany reports the field is "totally closed" to flying as the result of heavy mud and silt on the runway and the pit area. There were three inches of rain yesterday... but the accumulation of water reached four feet, flooding the containers and the rest rooms. Work tables that weren't bolted down actually floated out to the runway, the low area of the field. There is equipment damage in the containers as water covered the generators and other gear on the floors. Dave says flying won't be possible until after the initial cleanup. Both Dave and Willie Gardner are at the field today and they will have a report on conditions and details of the damage at tomorrow night's general meeting.

IF any one has shovels and brooms and some time, they could use it out there.

At the meeting last night they said they would be putting up some pictures today, I beleive on the valley flyer website.

From what I saw, we need quite a few hands to get out there and help. Tables and chairs are strewn about every where.

Pictures didn't show the runway but it is said to be needing some cleanup as well.

Word is that about 6 guys have been working the field all week. That's most dissapointing to me.

With all the flyers that use that facility there ought to be about 60.

At this point I can not say for sure, but you might be able to fly this weekend.
