And I don't have 10K to put 10K in the air.

Hey Eddy,
I feel that you have a good fan club going on at the basin. I know the Hot Asian Chick personally, and she thinks that you are cool. I am amazed when I read some of these posts that people write. I can only imagine how much trash talk goes on behind ones back.

Torrey

BasinBum -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/27/2003 3:07:13 PM)

Hey Torrey,
Good to see you online, I'm surprised your new here as the jet forum is a huge resource for you.

While I can't argue about the amount of trash talk behind our backs (human nature I suppose) I think that's a far cry from posting on the internet for the world to see.

Can you introduce me to the hot Asian chick sometime? ;)

Spaceclam -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/27/2003 3:38:56 PM)

we make fun of people at the basin because it is simply a zoo. i have gotten hit by a plane, had a radio hit and while the plane was going nuts hit somebody in the head (i know it was a hit because i have a gws reciever in that little park flyer and the guy i was flying near was on 23) i have been hit by a gas plane in the shin, have nad a midair with another plane, and not to mention my first flight there at the basin i got a radio hit in the infamous area in front of those 3 palm trees are tward balboa park. that's the graveyard of planes. if i didn't find my trainer, i could have made one with the stuff i found there. dirty bob has many names. dirty bob, bob the engine guy, bob the engine dude, and several others i have heard that i can't think of right now. you come up with nicknames when you spend so much time together. by the way, if you are upset with what somebody is going, there are other ways than to explode. to be really honest, it looks like a random impulse amongst basonite talk.

I like that term.

Eddy, didn't you buy a viper? I know Rob has one and a good jet friend in Arizona has one as well.

I have yet to see one fly but I like them, I hope Rob gets it all figured out so I can get one.

mr_matt -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/27/2003 4:59:24 PM)

Oh and on another topic...

The wetlands thing is back up and at full steam. I kept a Daily News article on it, I will try to post in on the bulletin board at the field.

In a nutshell, the last time the wetlands project got shot down, was mainly due to the location south of Burbank, the homeowners threw a fit. We were not too concerned as it was far away from us, but still we did not want them to get a foot in the door.

Well that stopped and we (modelers) went from the frying pan into the fire. To appease the homeowners they are proposing a new location off the south end of the runway.

I hope all of the modelers, friends, enemies and the like can get together on this and fight it.

The Valley Flyers Board will be meeting with the planners of this project on October 7th.

I will keep the Basonites posted on RCU.

outssider -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/27/2003 7:29:42 PM)

Richard....Don't know the name of the guy who's get burned. I'm not too buddy-buddy with the jet crowed ! ...I was told it's the guy that has a hangar full of planes (not Sammy and Bill)....

the fire only took one fire truck and was out in short order. the crash was so far north, the wind just blew the fire up to the entrance road. too bad it didn't crash farther south!... we would have been rid of all those weeds

ps....I thought dirty Bob was his real name [&:] ...never heard him called anything else

Syclone guy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/27/2003 8:06:04 PM)

Hello Basin Bum,

I know just how resourceful these forums can be. It is the constant threads and bashing that turn me off. I know it is only human nature but it is very sad sometimes. I usually spend just enough time on-line to finish work and none left over to see who's bashing who. I really haven't convinced myself that it is worth the freedom of expressing my thoughts on these forums. Besides when it is at all possible I like to debate in person anyway.

BasinBum -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/27/2003 10:07:43 PM)

Well Torrey, I hope you were not offended by anything I wrote as it is all in jest and for the entertianment of fellow Basinites.

Outsider, I read all about it in the Jet forum, very unfortunate. With the situation that Matt wrote about and incidents like this you sometimes have to wonder about the future of the Basin.

eddy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 4:04:34 AM)

Hey basin bum. Thanks for sticking up for me after I threw you under the bus. I apologize for shooting you down. I just thought that maybe you were a bit harsh on our friends and our hang out.

Syclone guy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 6:06:14 AM)

Hey Basin Bum,

No problem, I am not that easily offended. If I was I should probably stop flying at the basin, and maybe stay at home while never turning on my computer again. These forums are very informative, and we are fortunate to have people like Matt who can take the time to keep us up to date on the latest political events. I was very much an activist in the past with model field politics but I found myself being attacked from every end. The next thing I know I am knee deep in it with attorney fee's and more.
All this while I'm just trying to help in the best way possible... Go figure.

Cheers,

Torrey

I totally forgot about that!! Those were the days, huh?

I must say it is very hard to keep the energy up and get slammed for trying to help. I know the feeling.

Syclone guy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 6:28:16 AM)

Hey Mr Matt,

I only wish that people knew what trouble we go through just to support what we all enjoy so much. If there was no good voice for the field, you and I know that it would have been gone a long time ago.

Matt

Get hold of Rich Hanson, Jay Mealy at HQ, Wes De Cou, and Carl Maroney at HQ. Don't make the same mistake that they did at Mile Square and assume that this can be handled by the Valley Flyers. Get the AMA involved NOW. Get them involved with the first meetings and hearings the City holds.

JR

mr_matt -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 6:48:04 AM)

Good point JR, I will do that tomorrow

Rojeck -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 3:46:55 PM)

Mr. Matt

Next time I see you at the field can give me a run down on the wetlands issue. I would like to help out if I can.

Sung

eddy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 5:53:01 PM)

hey rojeck wake up is wife going to let you go to the basin today

Syclone guy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 5:58:20 PM)

Hey Rojeck,

One of these days you should see about attending one of these meetings at the Rec. HQ. You will hear everything from the bird lady singing the blues to the control line folks chopping up their R/C counterparts. There are more pokers in the fire than you can imagine.

Torrey

Rojeck -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 7:40:19 PM)

eddy

I'm been at work since 7, but I should be free later in the afternoon say around 4 or 5 PM for a flight or two.

Syclone guy,

I guess I'm gonna have to stop by and see whats really going at these meetings. Best if I drank some coffee before I go, hate to fall a sleep. Seriously, I would like to know if the field is in any danger of being shutdown or more restrictions being placed on it.

Sung

eddy -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 8:46:11 PM)

Mr David. I'm not out there to become popular and the amount of postings is not a rank or something to be proud of, it just means that you have more time to burn than others. further more you should know me a little better before you start grading me. I believe we have'nt met. I'l be there Sunday 9/28 about 1:30 pm in the south side of the field if you don't know who I am just ask.

Deadeye -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/28/2003 11:19:23 PM)

Ok, I have seen this thread so many times in the last month, but I still haven't the foggiest idea how to pronounce 'Sepluveda'. Help me out.

J_R -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/29/2003 12:54:03 AM)

Sa pul va da

pul is pronounced like dull
sa, va and da are prononced like Duh, and no, I ain't gonna touch that line.

David Cutler -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/29/2003 1:07:11 AM)

I'm sorry Eddy, but don't you think asking somebody to 'fly in hell with the other idiots' warrants a response from a friend?

What did you expect?

I'd be glad to meet and patch this up. It's stupid. My whole point before was that it's only too easy to mouth off at somebody on line, as the medium almost encourages it, when you wouldn't dream of doing it in person.

David C.

BasinBum -> RE: Sepulveda Basin (9/29/2003 3:35:28 AM)

I reintroduced myself to eddy today and we had a good laugh over this. It put the Duh in Sepulveda.
