Default Invitation for the 3rd International RC-Multihull-Meeting!

Invitation for the 3rd International RC-Multihull-Meeting on Lake Aartal in Germany!

(Translation by Ernst Zemann/Idealist)

Good morning Everybody,

I have been asked several times by now - therefore it´s official from now on:

The - meanwhile –
3rd International RC-Multihull-Meeting on Lake Aartal in Germany
will be held on 4th and 5th of July 2009 at the usual place and in the usual format.

This meeting serves primary for exchanging experiences, sailing together and overall fun in multihullsailing.
A rowingboat will be there – so you can sail your model to the limits.
A race course will be set up as well, to do one or more races – if wind, fun and the right mood is there.

You can stay at Hotel Seehof on Lake Aartal (Aartalsee) -
less than 10 Minutes to go from the actual sailingsite.

www.seehof-aartalsee.de

As usual we allready will be there on Friday afternoon to set everything up,
to guide the first participants through – and in the evening the first meeting with some beer (wine, coke, water – just as you like) to start this meeting in a proper way.

If you want to be part of this event, just sign in to: www.rc-network.de/forum -> Mini 40 -> Multihull-Meeting – or email to: [email protected]
Please tell us type/name/brand of boat, frequencies, date of arrival, if you wish to stay in the hotel (single or double room – room together with others), email adress, mobilephone number if possible.-
(There is also a campingsite right beside – so if you just come with your car,a tent and a sleepingbag or with your caravan – that´s fine too.)

Registrations for the event please untill begin of June. –
There will be reminders before the end of it.
Registrations for hotel rooms please untill middle of April.
I will try to combine the bookings, to get lower prizes for the whole group.

More infos or routeplanner per email: [email protected] -
or do a Google search for Aartalsee, Germany.

Kind regards,

Klaus, Heinz and Jens

P.S.: I´m looking forward to see all of you again.

Translations into French, Italian and as much other languages as possible needed!
Your help is really needed here!

Would anybody in this forum be so kind - if english is not his mother language, or if he speaks a foreign language fluently -
to translate this Invitation into this other language?

Then please send me a copy of the translation to: [email protected]
And please place it in as many other rc-forums of that other language as you come across.

Thank you very much!

Default RE: Invitation for the 3rd International RC-Multihull-Meeting!

The date of this "International" Multihull-Meeting has been changed to 18th and 19th of July!

So far only 2 Austrians will be there and of course lots of Germans.
No UK, French or other Nations showed any interest as far as I could read in the german forum ->

http://www.rc-network.de/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=166
http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showthread.php?t=133541

But there will be 12 to 16 Mini40 boats - cats, tris AND even Foilers - and two 2M tris as well.

Look forward to the pics of that event, which is the only one for 2009 I know of.

Unfortunately I cannot be there.

Eric Lhoir,

I´m too busy with other projects.

By the way - my hobbyhorse is boat-designing and rc-boat-building, not necessarily sailing them.

I want to sail multihulls 35ft. and up - but not only models, not only races.

Only two days left untill the 2009 rc-multihull-event starts!

Here is the picture gallery of the first event in 2007:
http://www.rc-network.de/magazin/art...rt_077-01.html

Event 2008 - more boats, but less pics (!?):
http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showt...t=93974&page=6
Just scroll down a bit.

The boats of Karl Schmidt (SKAUT - AUT 07) are allways purple/yellow.
He will show up with a completely new boat built during this winter.

Also Eric Gielen with the carbon/epoxy prototype of the "Nightmare Mk.VII" will be there.

Hi, don't know for sure why the French haven't made the trip but I know money is an important factor taken into consideration and I don't know either if it was made public to them (don't get me wrong i don't know the full story and they may have been invited - don't know). Taking my own experience I have a old cobra i have pretty much repaired and re-rigged that I bought over 17 years ago when I was part of the team in France developing multihulls and in particular Mini40, but I'm only gona use it locally for my own pleasure (I don't have money to travel for racing outside of Ireland and the cobra wouldn't be competitive boat anymore.) I have a replica of Jet Services of 1.6m which I have refurbished and I use it for big boat events locally to promote Model boat activity in Ireland.

If I find the time I would love to build your MKVII as I really like the lines and I think your design address a lot of the issues we had years ago sailing tri. In fact I would actually blow them to make a 2m if possible.

Back to why the French didn't come ! well as I said money could have been the reason for it - I should have gone to the IOM worlds in Barbados earlier in the month but didn't have the money for the trip, accomodation, etc... and with $500 entry fee it doesn't help either.

Though I am French but now live in Ireland I would love to see more Tri sailing on Irish Water and I can only congratulate Idealist for his initiative of free plan for his own design and I truly hope it will develop Tri in a few countries. Personally I have never been afraid of challenges I use to do the 6hours endurance racing we had in France and it was good fun - Some GBR and SUI boats joined the fun too but that was it then.

Anyway I wish the development of the Multi RCto continue in Europe and across the globe - And I look forward to the time when I'll be able to have proper Tri I can sail.

Hi GLX,

I totally understand the financial reasons for many being unable to attend meets, was that a $500 USD entry fee to IOM worlds??...ouch.. if that keeps up we'll have competitive RC sailors looking for Swiss funding next.

I guess I was just thinking that France and Germany...well its just a short trip between borders ..relatively speaking from a island nation like NZ. And then there was my thoughts that the French seem to be the world leaders in Multi innovation and therefore there must be many Mini40 sailors in France and so maybe a few might make the trip........

maybe you could help with some links to any Mini40 rc forums in France...they must have some...I cannot find them??.

Cheers

Gary

Hello - has anyone put a reporton the web from the German multihull event? I am a Brit living inShanghai, and have just ordered a Nightmare hull kit fromPhanchita Supasirithanawat inThailand. Here the Chinese mainly sail the EClass (almost identical to the IOM) but I am keen to wake them up and show them something better. I also plan to put foils on the tri. All news and photos gratefully received!

Unfortunately China has blocked YouTube so I cannot see any of the videos posted there

Hello - yes the links work but the threads seem to concentrate on just a handful of boats.  Are there photos of the entire fleet?  Would be good to see a summary of technical dtaa for each boat:
- Design
- Materials used for construction
- Sailing weight
- Mast leght and material
- Who made the sails
I see that everyone uses a large single central rudder.  Has anyone tried experimenting with much smaller twin rudders, one on each float?
