This is all well and good but there is the noise factor also.
So the DDM side pipe is a good all around pipe but how is it with a silencer on it?
if you can even get one on it

It has a built in silencer and is not available without.

It's not quiet, but it's not monstrously loud either. It's only disadvantage is weight.

Both the side and rear Dominator are heavy as the are made of steel. I read and article a while back that said steel is the best materiel to make a 2 stroke pipe out of the only problem is weight. Unfortunately the article is no longer available.

I have a question about the Mielke Side Pipe. I have read there are some problems with the coupling between the header and the pipe. Is this true and if so what is the recommend fix?

Yes, the recommendation is to use a decent automotive pipe as a coupler and fat automotive jubilee clips. It's just a piece of thin plastic the stock one, and melts after a few hard runs. Simple fix. I got some decent piping the right diameter from a local shop and did all my pipes with it.

It's about the same as the stock can, maybe a touch louder, but it's significantly quieter than the HPI 'tuned' pipe and the X-cans. The mielke is the only truly quiet pipe unless you heavily silence the others, which means you'll lose some power. Mielke doesn't even have an integrated silencer, must work by magic. lol.

By chance, do you know if the HPI piston stopper is compatible with glow plug engines, i.e. has the same threads as a standard glow plug?

No way the spark plug is much bigger then any glow plug engine I have. They do make one for glow plug engines.

I am ALL MOST done with phase 1 after having my 5B SS for 2 months. Putting the finishing touches on it and if only the weather would get better I will be running it for the first time. Just installed the RX and PB Kill Switch!

46u, I have been flying RC aircraft for 36 years and do not run land vehicles. I got here due to a search for a good piston stopper for glow engines. Sandy Springs is between Atlanta and Roswell.

Do you know Pecan Patch (Marko) near Griffin? He does aircraft as well as land vehicles. He has a small landing strip in his back yard for ultra lights and small plains as well as a off road track.

Nice fender modd
After a few tanks through this thing I am still amazed how well this thing runs.
I can believe how good it is with the stock pipe on it.
It lacks a bit down low but has great mid range for a stock can.
Either way this thing is awesome and I wish I could set up the SS for sand cause I live right near Lake Erie and have Miles and Miles of beach!

Hi every one
I have been a member of this forum for a few years now and mainly posted on the Tamiya Nitrage thread.
I also own a HPI Baja 5b ss that I built from kit form 26cc. However not much of the original kit now survives on the car due to the vast amount of upgrades available. I have had the car for two years. Here are the latest pics of it in the Monster energy theme

Yes I'm surprised too that this thread cut short early. The HPI Baja is still a very popular petrol powered 1/5 scale basher.

I have just dyed some wheels to match my RPM arms and fitted some new Hostile MX Nightmare tyres
