I am building a model from scratch. It calls for a geared 05. Since I don't have a brushless motor. What brushed motor could I use in place of this one. Thanks

What's brushless have to do with it? An "05" is a brushed motor. There's the classic Astro 05, and many 05 "can" motors, also referred to as "550" or Speed 600.

Hey Thanks! I'm new to electrics and am trying very hard not to creep back to glow. I scratch built one plane which weights 30 oz. 44" span and was trying to use 400 geared 2.33-1 just doesn't seem to have enough umph. I have a speed 600 I'm going to try on 9 -1300 cells that should do it. I also working on a 3D 42" which is the one that called for the Astro 05. Lot of money.

30oz is way over the limit for a Speed 400, even geared. You want to keep the weight under 24oz, and that's only on a floaty airplane with lots of wing area. On anything you expect performance out of, 16-20oz is more like it...
