I think they have an IR version planned, but right now that is vaporware. Nowhere have I seen a quote from Mato about IR capability.

It sure would be nice if they had a RTR Tamiya compatible tank, but don't hold your breath.

This Sherman is starting to become legendary, and I think we need to temper our enthusiasm just a little.

THe really great thing about this is that Mato worked with one of our own to actually produce something we want. The differnet variations using this VSS suspension are impressive. I would think this will be a huge success, but the one thing that hasn't been confirmed yet is price. If this is a $130 tank then look out, sales number will be huge. If it is a $299 tank then I am not so sure. A lot would depend on the quality of the sound, and other things. I don't think the more expensive Matorro King tigers were big sellers. That higher price point changes things a little. People will put up with a lot of stuff in a $130 tank. Once you start shelling out $300 your expectations change. Buy the time you get this fitted with IR you could be close to $450. I doubt Mato want ot bring a $450 tank to market, so I am doubtful of Tamiya compatible IR.

Nope. I think most of us have been wanting a Sherman with VVSS for a long time. If it's $300.00, then so be it. It won't curb my enthusiasm the least bit and I'll still get the number of tanks I need.

Oh I am sure the price won't bother some people, but others it will. A $300 tank is a new entry point, and the last ones at that price didn't go over so well, so Mato is aware. My guess is this will be a $180 airsoft tank. THe new electronics is a big question mark fo rme. Compatible with a DBC????. I sure hope so, otherwise they will be getting yanked for an RX18, and how good they sound will be irrelvent to the IR crowd.

My Tamiya Sherman will probably get gutted for the electronics to stick into one of these, and it will get the Mato electronics.

Can't wait.

Hi fellas. As mentioned in the earlier post, this first release will be airsoft with all new electronics. Another all new electronics system is in development for use with IR battling and will be Tamiya/Darkith compatible. That will come out with future runs of this Sherman and others.

Swathdiver said when asked about IR-

"Yes, the main requirement for the IR system is to be Tamiya compatible, that's a no-brainer! A pet peeve of mine is that apple, I'm pushing to have it made into a tank commander! This release will be airsoft, then later releases will have it."

Germans says that the price should be around 129 euro (plus shipping), 168 USD depending of the currency. Not a bad price if they offer decent electronics and the possibility of IR combat system upgrading.

Did you notice that the two original independent swinging suspension arms seem one-piece molded in the Mato VVSS reproduction?, the two wheels in each bogie should then "rock" in an unnatural manner...

Regards
Jose

That was a compromise for cost and reliability. A fully functional metal upgrade version is in the works. Each wheel is supported by 2 control arms that move with the other wheel in the bogie assembly by the lever arm above. Between the lever arms are the volute springs which excert pressure downwards to keep the wheels in contact with the track.

See Swaths comments above. No IR only airsoft, IR will come later. Anything that is later is not now, and may never be. Been in this game too long to get too worked up over things that might be. Swath has doen a great job getting us to here. Lets be happy about that. If the IR comes to light then great.

Swath, You haven't battled much in IR have you?? Keep the apple or something similiar. The current HBU is decent in size and can be made to to have lights to totally simulate a Tamiya TBU. I never liked the TBU either, but the fact you only put them on when battling, means it does not detract from the model. It is also easily transferrable to other tanks, and its functionality has made me a beleiver in the design. IF it's not broke, don't fix it.

A slight disappointment. My FOV Firefly has independant arms. I guess I guy may have to kitbash something to make them work. That will be a good thread!!!!!!!!!!

Do you mean that each wheel has 2 control arms with a separate lever arm above them? I didn't get that from the photos, looked more like Mato Toys version. Do you have close up pictures? How is it sprung?

Just wondering, do these tanks run off FM27Mhz? Just like the Hls or is it some other frequency. Also how many channels will it come in and what is the max number of tanks that can be run at the same time. Sorry if this was asked already.

Just a question - If I get the airsoft version first, can I just buy the IR turret later when the IR version comes out to replace the airsoft turret? Will the connections be just plug-and-play to the main chasis?
