Hi!

It is not quite. I`m here man :) Don`t leave me all alone :)

Can you post some pictures of you Beetle so we can see how it looks now before the rebuild? So you are saying that you have a few surprises for the rebuild, maybe you can give us a few hints of what these might be [:)]

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/13/2009 8:41 PM)

hahah dont worry im not going anywhere for now, sure i have to get some opinions on this machine when rebuilt... )

im not saying my threads are quite,in fact im getting some great commets here and opinions from everybody, its just that there isnt much over all intrest in some areas on the forum, sometimes busy, sometimes very quite.

im planning waqr in documinting everything monday evening,im going in to the spare room with a GALLON of coffee/tea lol and i will begin around 5 in the evening and i will not STOP untill this machine is complete.

i wont upload any pics until i get the parts monday,i will show you the car then,YES i have GREAT surprises,JUST put it to you like this, tuesday evening there will be a SHOW!!!!!

and i cant wait to see how this engine performs

MONDAY IS GOING TO BE A LONG NIGHT ..........

FShopups -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/13/2009 9:00 PM)

we are all watching dc2 mucker, so dont go anywhere lol... is it me or does the pm function on this forum not work..???..

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/13/2009 9:17 PM)

thanks fs hop ups

i have a great show lined up now for next tuesday all going well.......

its been a long long time sinse i had this fg beetle machine running and i am just itching to get it going,i have far TOO much money invested in it for it to be idle.

havnt noticed any probs with the pm functions but have heard a few saying it already.....

hope it gets resolved soon.

roll on tuesday for THE CAD G270 hand built blueprinted one off motor to be installed and my lilttle SURPRISE R/C SHOW...........

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/14/2009 9:26 PM)

******* SO THE BUILD BEGINS*********           sunday evening 8-06-09                    fg elcon/beetle #4 rebuild

here is what i have done tonight
all will be getting a good taste of blue thread lock lol

fitted NEW clutch carrier to cad engine
fitted  NEW clutch case
installed new clutch
cleaned up beetle chassis
putting elcon drive train together, taking it out of the boxes etc etc

getting work place ready now, waiting for parts tomorrow,i should have everything in the morning
,i will be starting tomorrow evening at 4 o clock and i will upload some pics as i go alongl

cant wait.

waqr -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/14/2009 9:54 PM)

Sounds good dc2man :) I will be up all evening tomorrow following your build. I`m so curious about what surprises you have for us :)

Is the CAD engine 26 or 27,2 cc?

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/14/2009 11:59 PM)

hey thanks man the engine is a 27cc

you wouldnt believe how much i am looking forward to this..........i am REALLY dying to run this fg its been a LONG TIME man......

i will upoad all the pics now tomorrow in detail as i go along. how do i keep the pics small in the screen or is it better to keep them big??

oh ITS  a GREAT SURPRISE but you will only see it in the video, GOING TO BE ONE OFF alright..........and really GREAT!!!

around 4 o clock man i will start it tomorrow evening, dhl are droping my parts in the morning another huge box lol ,this is the final build on this fg its going to be a beautifull machine, not needing anything ever again,. only thing as i said before is the stock driveshaft/dogbones may not cope with all the hp,we will see how they go........i may have to go ball drive eventually....

i will need to do a huge amount of work so i think tomorrow night could very well be VERY LATE...... i need to install all wiring/new battery, new servos alloy tray, all rear end/engine/pipe/wheels/brakes.......BLEED HYDROS which is a pain....will take some time with the linkages/rods for throttle/brake too, as this is slow.......... but i CANT WAIT........

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/15/2009 10:18 AM)

some news NO PARTS from hobbythek this morning i was told they were shipped last tuesday when in actual fact not shipped till last thursday......

its ok i was told i will have them in the morning [tue]

so my excitment has to WAIT......ANOTHER whole day ...............

aspectcarl -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/16/2009 3:45 PM)

Hey DC2 Man,

You have a habit worse than my good friend Sentinel who collects cardboard boxes full of new parts from Hobbytek etc,  he also cannot resist shiny ally parts. Beetle looks superb

I have a Marder and come to Portlaise nearly every month to see him, we may drop you a line during the visit and see if we can get some 1/5th scale cars together

Cheers

Carl

waqr -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/17/2009 11:53 AM)

So, what is happening dc2man? Have you recieved the parts yet? It has been awefully quite around here for the last 24 hours [:D]

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/17/2009 1:54 PM)

hello aspectcarl why thanks for the compliment... yes if you are around any time we could very well meet up.

i am a big fan of hobbytheks shop as you can see alright i have half of the shop bought at this stage haha

hey waqr been a long night man,as you knew what i was getting up to lol im like a zombie today

SO THE START.....

SOoooo it was a long night i was up till 6am this morning and i got a lot done to this machine, engine and drive train fitted like a glove, got on the f1 airfilter, and basicly got all rear end done, one bit of bad news is that the quaterscale steering servo hobbythek sent me was a dudd out of the box,it was faulty and didnt work......but not to worry as im going to my local modelshop here in galway to petes modelworld for one of the same......

i upgraded my rear hubs to new ones with the screw down balljoint tops rather than my old split pin ones,i put alloy balljoints on here also, looks well....
i also adjusted all my 8 alloy shocks, these babies are going to perform really good i think.

also got all my bits in the order as you will see new fg monster rims and tyres and new rear hubbs etc etc as you will see in the pics, also got my new bwm bodyshell,i went for same paint scheme as you will see the girlfriend nicola getting ready here also, got my carbon radio tray and pipe too.ALSO check out my new unbreakable rear wing........fair cool rubbery product.

steven browns alloy radio tray is also in the process of being fitted right now and is an awesome job [thanks steven]
HERE IS WHAT I HAVE DONE.......

{hope you like pics cause this is picture MAD... lol}
man it feels good to be up all night again at this........god bless the coffee lol

waqr -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/17/2009 8:51 PM)

Great pictures dc2man. It looks really great. Thumbs up [;)]

Maybe I have asked this before, but what carburator are you using with that engine?

Why is the F1 airfilter better than the standard filter? I have never had any issues with my original filter (I also use the outwear prefilter over it). Maybe I should by the F1 filter aswell?

Keep up the good work and keep posting pictures [:D]

dc2 man -> RE: FG BEETLE PRO REBUILD THREAD(my style) (6/17/2009 11:19 PM)

my ultimate rebuild fg beetle.....      17-06-09

hey waqr hows the head man YOU AINT SEEN ANYTHING YET MY FRIEND.....

the f1 is the best and i wouldnt use anything less on this engine, its sealed from a lot of debris and the inside filter foam is beautifully sealed to inside of the filter, its just a great job,you would have to see one stripped to see what i mean.

its the best insurance for one of these engines....

WELL its all work in progress for me,im at beetle sinse 6 0 clock again just took a tea break lol

im bleeding hydros, and i have all my electrics installed and servos alloy radio tray, fitted together like  A GLOVE..... i am using my spectrum dx3.0 and a new large hitek ms steering servo with the ace throttlebrake.

here are some pics of this evenings progress.

now to bleed those BLEEDIN brakes lol
