hello all very nice to be on here.
dan is my name but you can all call me dc2 man,i am from republic of ireland, so where to start,i have had nitro models for 10years,before that some planes, hellis all electric and for the last five years i have been driving 1/5th scale.so around four years ago i got my fg beetle pro, love it,it is great i really had amazing times with it.

anyway after running my fg for a long time i decided to really start upgrading it,first the lower a-arms to alloy, then moving to uprights and so on and so fourth,my upgrading just hasnt stoped, and more intresting where will it stop lol

so i have decided to strip down my fg and start all over again using some of the finest parts and now you can check the whole process here step by step throughout the whole rebuild.

i started out on my first forum documenting my fg over on large scale forums(fg beetle rebuild) aka dc2 man, and met some great helpfull guys there some i will mention, slawhammer, bigger the better, clubin, mooman, shiny, nicky, less is more, trip, ducky, waqr, ceazy beetle, super 654, and for those i have not mentioned you know who you are, cheers lads.

so i am going to post up the rebuild here now too and lets see what you think, some of my recent upgrades will include, new chassis, new fueltank, complete elcon drivetrain, elcon helical cut gears, spectrum new dx3.0,thunder tiger ace servos, custom wheelie bar and custom designed radio tray, alloy complete car, alloy shocks, complete bling polish,o neills 27.2 race ported kit, jetpro pipe v2,loads more, meca thek hydros, custom airbrushed bodys, loads more elcon bits and thats just the start.

the first pics you will see are some old ones, but for noe untill next week ny car is totally stripped down as i am waiting for loads of parts to start my new build.so may aswell introduce the fg to you,let me know how you like the bodys.

so here i am going to start off as early as i can with the build and try my best to get it all together,so its not a question of when i will have it done but WHERE I AM GOING TO STOP lol .... cheers.

ok so thats a start a random enough mix up but i will try and get it together.

good to be here and a start made anyway lol

Nope, you posted in the right place, the Giant Scale forums are a bit quieter than the rest of the forums, mostly because not many people can afford large scale vehicles.

Nice to help you!

I used the link-button on top of the messagebox and put the adresses in it I tried to put it in the Youtube box,but i guess its not working since the adress is not Youtube.

Yes,i watched the videos, lots of good driving there!

I have the homemade car,a Ford Capri mk1 with the engine from a chainsaw, and i have a FG Marder which i have converted to onroad, using a Ford Focus body from MCD on it.This is a tribute car to Colin McRae from his time in Ford.Yes,i am a bit of a Fordman as you can see
I was looking very much forward for MCD to make the Ford Escort mk1 body, but this project stopped .I hope they bring it to life some day.

hello lars

thanks for the help, and thanks for the compliment on the driving.
the mk 2 escort body would be cool actually pure rally,so your a ford man, nice, friend of mine has a ford focus st turbo, nice car,i drive an integra type r im a honda man lol another friend of mine has a cosworth sierra 91 its mint and man it is quick,he throws out the ass of it just for fun at crossroads,we races when ever we meet on the road so thank god i dont meet him often lol

man i would love to see that capri with the chainsaw engine, how does it run?
what running gear have you fg/carson/hpi etc etc?

you got some good projects going on there lars,i like the sound of that marder convertion to onroad, you must be pretty skiilled with the 1/5th scales so,i also like the sound of that idea of the mk2 body from mcd hopefully for you they might produce them at some point, you must have had some work with the onroad conversion so what had you to change then?

i have a spare fg chassis lying around at home as i got a new one for my beetle so i might start up some new project sometime with that, i was actually considering a 125cc two stroke motorbike engine and extending the chassis a little as i have shed loads of parts lying around both alloy and plastic, could stick to fg diff and chain drive,im sure it would work, what do you think?

got a few bits today from hobbythek,4 more gbm cross alloy shocks to match the 4 i have already on my beetle, two choke shafts as i lost them on both machines, and i got four hitek hs metal geared servos, two big two small,i got the carson up and running this evening as it was lovely outside but the last time i ran it i could not tune it at all,i knew there was something up with it,i presumed it was drawing air from someplace or another /cracked hose i thought or just a leak someplace as the idle was very erratic,so before i left this morning i put it up on the bench and gave a look through it,do you know what i spotted, the manifold(intake) was loose,AHH GREAT i thought,so torqued them up put in new steering servo along with checking everything,so i was ready to go....so off i went to the place i run it as you saw on the videos, and to my surprise it wouldnt start at all.........ahhh no........... i was kinda piss''''d of to be honest,i spent another ten mins trying to start and finally fired up,spluttering, misfiring and erratic ideling........ohh no i said what now....... so homw i had to come with it kinda sour to say the least, and it was anoying me to try and figure out what could be wrong with it as i was worried it may have injested some dirt or rubber lol in to engine with loose intake,so bought it in took off header to chck piston, man its like new after 10tanks of fuel....150mill to 5liters i run,i might lean a bit anyway, checked everything and no good................ahhhh,so finally i came across the culprit, the intake mani again, when i was torquing those intake mani bolts this morning before runnin when i spotted them loose i overtightened the bolts (it shouldnt have cracked anyway) and cracked it so it was drawing air from there,i have to say the carson intale mani is fairly week looking plastic,im working on that right now it is 10pm here in ireland and ,my girlfriend is giving out lol the fg ones i have 3 spares and they wont fit,so im out with super glue to try and repair, hey it may just do fine lol we will see................................man i am going on a bit here tonight lol...

later folks..

Did you noticed that the underlining on "Ford Capri mk1" and "Ford Focus body" are links to the projects? There you'll see what i did to make/convert the cars.Hmmm, maybe you did see them as you asked what running gear i have used,on the Capri i used gears and some parts from FG,and some of the parts from the brake too.You are welcome to reply in my project threads!

I wrote mk1 Escort, but mk2 would have been even cooler as i have one myself
