Problem is, big high pitched 2 blade props are hard to find now. APC don't make em' anymore. You'll need a 24x14 on that beast when it gets broke in, so take it easy on us! Looks real good! Paul

had to add 7 oz to the nose. i guess that tricked up hatch and metal gear servos in the tail got me. I have been delayed until sunday to fly it.

This is one of the best flying planes i have ever had!!! The bad news is i lost it today. I belive all crashes are pilot error....no matter what. And this is what got me. My RX battery shorted out on final and she went in from about 50 ft. I will be ordering a new one!!!!!

tfarmer96,

Sorry to here about your loss.  I see you're ordering another one.  How does the Skyshark no crash policy work?  Will this qualify for a free replacement?

Sorry to hear about your loss!!

I HATE when that happens especially when it happend to a great flying plane! If it flew that great it's worth getting another one?

Did the DA85 have enough power for it, I bet it was sick power,EH?

I have it on video and am transferring it now. I went over to friends and we checked out the motor it’s not hurt a bit so all that was lost was the airframe and 1 battery. I was wrong the battery didn’t fail in flight. It was something else pilot or mechanical. One of the servos in the wing was lose but that could have been the impact.  The DA 85 with the 3 blade with very rich settings pulled her fine. I didn’t get it much over 1/2 throttle the whole flight. I should have the video done shortly.

Terry, looking at the 1/2 tank of gas left, looks like you got at least a 5-7 minute flight till hell broke loose. Sorry to see this happen. Hope you find out the cause. Vibration maybe?? Flew my Husky 4.4 powered P51 a couple of times today. Think I got the flap/yaw problem fixed, or at least improved. Vibration caused the throttle/retract servo tray and rudder servos to come off. Locktite everything on these beasts! You gonna be at Bomber anyway? Paul

That was just horrible! That heli would have drove me crazy buzzing around like that. At our field everyone would have stayed down on a maiden flight, just for common courtesy . Sure hope you find out what happened, junk the batteries or try them in something you don't care about!

terry my p 40 is not quite done yet. but i want to mention i watched the same plane fly up here in canada at a show and it was coming in great for a landing it seemed very stable, it was about 3 feet off the ground and it was quite windy. a bit of a gust came up and cart wheeled the plane quite easily.it resulted in alot of damage, and i have wondered ever since if this plane is quite a bit less stable in high winds at slower speeds while landing.

Hey Terry, nice flight and sorry about the crash.  I'm putting one together the same camo one but with a G62 and the sierra gear.  Did the plane seem pitch sensitive?  If so, did you have your CG and elevator rates at the recommended level?  Just wondering because the manual calls for 1-1/2" for up elevator.  This seems a little high to me.  Just wondering.

By the way, your camera man does a great job.  It's not easy to keep the camera on the plane, let alone a steady hand.

the cg was set at 3 1/2 from the le. I set the elevator as prescribed but i put 40 % expo in it seemed to be fine on that setting. I thought it flew great i was surprised we had a bit of wind but thats the way it is around here.

Thanks, I lost it twice hehehe. The trick is not to zoom in and out - this get you and viewers dizzy.

Anyhow, for me is the crash a mystery. The there was no reason for that dive and tip. The wind came out ssw pretty steady and the gusts were not that pushy. The speed at the final approach was highter then the round before. The airplane had no bad tendencies in the round before.

Something went wrong, not a pilot error - not in my book. Terry and I crashed airplanes before so I don't hold back if i see it is/was his fault. This time, I think, it was something else then dump thumps.

Terry will build another one (this happens when you are a Warbird Junkie) and there will be another maiden coming up stay tuned.
