Apparently,
Nicola,

i'd like to know too about this airplane.

It's so nice, but i have searched the web and couldnt find any more info except some random ,not real, pictures.
Looked more like ad pics.

Anyway,
i'd like to see also some pictures of the inside of the fuselage!

Hi guys I got a 65cc radial in it. All fits nicely, there is plenty of room. I have in addition enforced the fire wall with some triangle and carbon fibre inside but not to strong because it is constructed to give if it have. Landing gear wise I can't say much, as I hope it stands up if it has to, it is quite solid with suspension and got some braces to support. It is always the same with ARF's you can't see what is inside the wing or fuse all you can is trust and see what's happen.
I repainted the fire wall with two pack and sealed the covering joints to make it fuel prove and you need this with the ASP 5 cylinder I used, fuel and oil every where.
Today I run the engine in and all looks good for the maiden next weekend.

the answers for your questions are:
1. the recommended CG 130mm from the LE is easy to achieve with the radial, because of the short nose it will be hard to get the CG right with a lighter engine. still I have put my batteries far in the back and also the throttle servo behind the CG. at the moment the plane is still a little bit tail heavy but this is easy to adjust with the batteries.
2. the decals were not applied as you can see from previous posted photos, but this is not a problem at all.
3. the total weight without cowl is 6.8kg therefore below the large model classification for Australia, makes it a little bit easier for the maiden flight.
4. The quality of this kit is very good, the design clever and enough glue applied. Still used epoxy to strengthen up, also the covering is nicely applied a few wrinkles but this is normal and quick removed with a iron. Of course there are a few things I would do different, the servo cover from the wing has huge cut-outs for the servo arm, could be smaller. Landing struts mount can be never strong enough, will see how this works.
5. more pic will follow very soon.

You are right the landing gear design is a joke.  I have posted a number of mods that have help keep everything on the wing from destroying the wing. They do help but had a hard landing in a crosswind and literally destroyed the wheel pants. The cuff and strut covers were fine because of the mods. The last straw was trying to get parts for the last three months. "Sorry we have no parts for the gear"  They have no idea when they will get any. I have since pieced together the wheel covers as best I could but have not flown it since. It has about a dozen flights with decent take offs and landings but all it takes is one hard landing and it is done

The airplane I talk about is the big brother, we have to acknowledge that the smaller version has some issues with the landing gear, but the bigger one is a lot stronger build, got suspension and struts to support loading.
Would be interested if some body has some experience with the big size of Gilmore and what he has to say about the landing gear.

Today was the day I maiden the Gilmore and it was a pleasure to fly it, he got no bad habits, no trim required at all, CG at 130mm according to the manual and slow landing speed. He rolls nicely and fly's like a 1930 racer. By the way the lading gear was standing up no worries at all.
I can really recommend this plane, unfortunately I had no one to film this event but hope the next time I got some body with a camera on the field.

Primi!!!!

OMG, how awesome is this! Thank you for posting photos, and in particular for building this plane with the FS-400. I am convinced now, this is the plane I MUST have for my radial.

Oh yes please please get some video.

G'day all. A member of our club here in Dubbo, Australia was test flying the smaller version of this model last weekend. It flew well with an OS AX55. It was a little "tender" in the roll direction and needed a careful set of thumbs at landing time but was surprisingly fast even at half throttle. A little exponential would probably help here.

The big frontal area does mean it slows very quickly once the power is taken off but is generally a nice plane to fly and looks great in the air.

Our field is pretty rough but the landing gear handled it well for several take offs and landings.

Several people are talking about the larger version as they were very impressed with the small one.

I know in the past BH landing gear and wheel pants have come under scrutiny.  I would think that the lading gear can be beefed up well enough, (?) but does it make sense to get the wheel pants made out of fiberglass?  It seems most manufacturers take the easy way out and use crappy plastic not caring that these will be broken sooner than later and then we go on an Eater egg hunt trying to find replacements.  Has anyone had the pants made by someone or knows where you can send the originals to get good ones made?

Hi SteelersRule

That's what happen to me I managed to break the pants and could not find any replacement at this time, which forced me into make my own in fibreglass and carbon. This time I got also the colour right background is cream not white.

It is 12 in or 30.48 centimeters for you. I think the pic tells you it would cover just about any engine.

I scratch built the Gilmore years ago. I'm not sure who's plans, I'd have to dig them up. 25%

You can see the framed and covered fuselage with tail feathers in my old shop. It's the one standing on it's nose to the left. The white one.

I can get other photos if there's interest. I'd sell it.

Has anybody tried an evolution 33cc 7 cylinder radial in the small gilmore red lion (121) cause I have both and they fit together perfectly. It certainly looks stunning but will it be way over powered ????
Promise pictures if I persue this combo.....
