Looks like I will be mounting my new smoke pump in the Tutor until I come up with a way to get a smoke tank into the Hawk with out redoing the airlines and wires.

Well anyway the Tutor really needs smoke more then the Hawk

You could put two 24 oz Dubro's one either side of the wires?

I have used the wing tank from a flash with the wire and air lines coming out just either side of centre, i will try and take some pics for you tomorrow.

Very helpful pictures I see what you did.

This will be an option for me when I do install my smoke tank.

I do like to watch airplanes when they use their smoke systems, but my main reason for going to smoke is to use in an emergency situation.

While flying my Flash I have lost sight of it as I enter a turn with the proper colored sky.

My thought is it would be great to flip a switch and be able to spot it if you could not find it right away.

So my thinking now is a smaller tank 24-32 oz's (two 16 oz tanks). That should give me two minutes of smoke if I only used it on certain maneuvers or emergency situation.

Status: offline 		Because the outline is scale and it flys so well I always intended building a second Hawk with Lights and the scale gear, but time never allows this. I don't even have the scale cockpit fitted yet!
Maybe one day...

MAKE time well worth it with the cockpit in. One thing is not good where the two intake vents are on the top if you cut out the wooden former is directly underneath so you would have to cut into the wood hence it would need bracing lower down.

Status: online 		Could someone comment on the flying qualities of the Hawk VS the Ultra Flash? I am primarily interested in the Ultra flash as my first turbine but the Hawk is the about same cost and size I thought I would check it out as an alternative. I am an aerobatic (not scale) flyer. But I do like scale airplanes, I just dislike the handling limitations most of them have. I am looking for the handling qualities of a pattern ship (kind of like my Electra) in my first turbine and i want to run a smoke system. The Union Jack color scheme is awesome! Thanks

The slow speed is close, UF is quite a bit faster (say like here both with P-120SX)
break-away on Hawk is more sudden than the UF, but very slow even then.

Yes the Hawk is much prettier in flight but the UF is much faster and in the video the flying is much more high energy, looks like you (or whoever was flying) was having more fun with the UF! The rolling and knife edge and stability of both look great but the UF was pulling a lot more g's and only it was doing snap rolls. Thank you.

What is the recommended torque for the Stab? I have some hitecs 7985s I was thinking on using for the wing and two 7955TG for the Stab?
the 7985s are 172 oz-in at 6V and the 7955 are 333 oz-in at 6V each.

Status: offline 		I used 8911 x 2 for tailplane, 8911 rudder (had spare one) 8411 x 4 for ailerons and flaps, BLS351 front wheel, HS 5125MG slim metal gear for small front door and cockpit power box and A123....

The CARF Hawk can be fast and flown with a lot of energy too. I often flew my CARF Hawk like I flew my UF.

I have both Flash and Hawk, if I could only have one, it would be Hawk hands down. Yes, Flash is way faster witrh same engine but, after a few high speed runs, who cares. Hawk has WAY more presence.  I find the Hawk a bit more challenging to land on a short field than Flash if that's a concern but, then again, I have more time on the Flash. The Hawk will fly a lot slower than you think and people often try to land it too fast.

Not sure what Dub's got in his but, I'm guessing that's more than a P-120

Status: online 		Like Mike, if I could only have one it would be the Hawk. You can fly the Hawk as a sport jet or scale jet. It does look a bit odd flying around like a sport plane. BTW - I had a Kingtech 170 in mine.

With that said, here's me doing more "non-scale" flying with my old Hawk.

Status: offline 		I'm trying to finish up my cockpit and was wondering if the white loop that crosses over the canopy between the pilots was an item that was included in the kit? I see some people didn't have it in the pictures that they posted. Just wondering what to use. Thick pinstriping tape or some flexible styrene? Thanks.

Status: online 		Well, you guys are certainly not making this any easier for me! But thanks for the videos, the Hawk was moving out and in style. Very capable in KE and looking great with the smoke on. I would probably get a P140 if I buy a new engine so it is quite powerful. That is one sweet jet.
