Status: offline 		So it looks like there may be a rational for using very high powered servos on the stabs...? I like the brushless motors used by Futaba in the BLS series. Futaba states that the 451 and 452 are "car" servos but they are tough and work great in heli's. The same spec "airplane" BLS servos cost a lot more. They have nice tight gear trains for MG servos. The 6030's are pretty high power servos, the Futaba 9156/9157 are about the same price as the JR's. I agree on a decent, robust, MG steering servo

Status: online 		After several months of not being able to Maiden my Hawk. It finally happened today.

I used all the parameters that Dave Wilshire has given us on this thread and his manual supplied with the kit.

Never touched any of my trims, plane flew flawlessly. Perfect landing. (walking pace no wind)

4 of my turbine buddies stood there with their mouths open. All they could comment on was how the plane flew like it was on rails and how well it showed up in the sky.

It was worth the wait for me to finally get it in the air.

Dave you really have the numbers zero'd in on this one.

What a great flying machine.

Status: offline 		I did the tape thing like Dub. It was 3M electrical from Home Depot. My son bought it for his bicycle to hold the origainal handlebar tape on. It is an off white which seems to be close to the scale white. Looks ok.

It's the Skymaster version. The pilot may be from Skymaster also. I bought the cockpit and pilot from "major woody" who was a major contributor to this forum. In his comeback into jets, he lost his Skymaster hawk early on after having rudder issues. He decided to get out of jets again and I bought the slightly damaged cockpit from him. I believe he got back into giant scale warbirds and frequents that forum.

Status: offline 		Thanks, I searched a bit this morning and found it. Honestly from the pictures I can't tell the difference between the Skymaster and Derjet Hawk cockpits. It is pretty funny how everything is a different scale. We have the Skymaster Hawk at 1:4.75 and the Carf/FeiBao Hawks at 1:6.5 all using the Skymaster or Derjet cockpit which is 1:5.5. Then the Skymaster pilot figure is listed at 1:5 dressed or a plastic mold at 1:5.25. Kind of entertaining really! But thanks everyone for posting pics, obviously the Hawk looks great with either cockpit, they both fit, and pilots look better with clothes on! The pilot with the black "Display Scheme" flight suit was the bomb. Speaking of the Display Scheme, how is it that Skymaster, FeiBao, and Hobby King can all get the color scheme right but not CARF? Oh yeah, Sport Jet! It may well look better in flight...

Status: online 		Skymaster has a 1:5:5 Hawk, hence the 1:5:5 cockpit. The 1:4 cockpit in my 1:4 SM Hawk will not fit in a CARF Hawk. Neither will the 1:4 scale pilots.

Status: online 		ok Guys the Hawk has arrived! Union Jack scheme. I'm ready to order the servos for it. I have narrowed it down to 2 servos on my list: the JR8711, and the Futaba S9075SB Digital HT S.Bus Programmable Servo, I'm really wanting to go the Futaba route since that's what i use for radio (18mz) but haven't owned a high end Futaba or JR servo i would like some advice from you guys who has used futaba servos. also had the hitec 7955tg on the list since I've used them on prop planes before but for the Full flying stab the Hawk has I want to go a bit stronger than the Hitec.
here is the specs for the S9075SB futaba servo.
Torque: 425 oz-in (31 kg-cm) at 6.0V
Speed: 0.14 sec/60° at 6.0V
Weight: 2.5oz (71g
