yeah but on rocks your ful throttle climbing without much air speed over the head. You might be able to find a good point between power/rich setting, but you can just get a giant cooling head. Im sure if your gears are low enough you wont have heat problems anyway.

this is my 30 mph rock crawler- i love to crawl but i don't want to wait all day to get to the rocks.
It is a truck I designed that utitilizes an emaxx transmission and other stock emaxx parts- but with a suspension similar to a four link suspension- which allows this truck to achieve 90 degrees of articulation and still bounce back for more.
4ws is available with the addition of a servo and Y harness. I haven't even locked the differentials and it still has plenty of climbing power. And it still handles high speed very well. the wooden pyramid in the second picture is 13 inches high. I have a video of my truck going through an obstacle course with similar pyramids that my friends' TXT rolled over while trying to go through the course. That was funny- the day an Emaxx out Crawled a TXT.

of course this is no ordinary Emaxx.

Lock the diffs...

If you want to buy stuff for it, 2x Kyosho Magetic Mayhem motors, alu skid plates, new dampers (I'm using the DuraTrax Evader dampers, alu, threaded bodys, 15,5 USD a pair @ Tower)

You can go to www.rc4wd.com for the skidplates and www.rcrock.com for instructions on how to JBWeld-lock the diffs...

if you guys want to make a good crawlin machine listen up.cut the chassis in half then buy a small hinge and place it about half and half on the chassis so the two half chassis move side to side.Warning the hinge must one of those one that swings both ways.this will allow half of the truck to be going another way then the other, without alot of suspension help,There for fixing every mans problem of suspensions. the 2 screws mudst be placed diagnol from each other allowing the chassis moving side to side.

Hey, I was thinking about getting a clod buster and I am not sure which Esc I should get, but I don’t want to spend $120 on a rooster. What requirements does the Esc have to meet to run on the clod, I”ve heard things about parallel, and duel motor compatibility, but I don't know how to make since of it all. Can someone try to explain it to me? I need the most cost effective Esc that can handle rock crawling. I would appreciate the help.

You will need an ESC that can handle at least a 14T motor...high frequency are a plus...

I admit I havn't read the whole thread but the problem with independent is also as the suspension compresses the center of the truck gets closer to the ground .loosing ground clearence.
A solid axle lift up the middle of the rear when it goes up over a rock. gaining ground clearence.
