Let's not get carried away here. That's just a bracket and a piece of aluminium bar, how is that original? Is this a copy too? Who copied who?

I keep making the point that one issue is that so much of what people see as copying is a result of the fact that when something is designed for a particular and specialized task there are just so many ways it can be done.

Like I say, there's a reason all hammers look alike.

Seems they don't do anything for themselves. I own a 97 Regal Rush jet boat. Awesome boat! now look at the link below and it seems they're cloning full size boats now too. It is the exact same boat except for the powertrain!.....http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/4939282/Motorboat_with_230HP_Suzuki_Inboard_Engine.html Nothing is safe!!!!!!! Check out the manufacturers web site and you'll see more cloning....

Good Eye Ron!!
That one looks like the one I made for Seaducer boats.
Not only do I make my own hardware I do make quite a bit for numerous boat manufactures across the US. and I tend to standardize a lot of the parts so that is why some of there stuff looks like my hardware. Just away to save them $$$$ and just change a little per their request.

Looks like a copy of Speedmaster to me, a bracket and a bit of aluminium bar with a slot in it. Just another hammer.

What about these?

Bill, it looks like you shouldn't be selling hardware to anybody in Asia. You might want to make a note of that on your site as they might want to splash your other items.

The point is even the USA guys are coping each other so who is to say who is right??
Why is it that they only cry foul when it's the China or Asia guys that copy?

Hear hear! I concur! Do not get me wrong, I love it when someone fabricates their own pieces of hardware or other parts as I have been known to buy from entrepaneurs within the locality. I support the Noth American Products very strongly but the same products are made in Asia or other parts of the world where labor is cheap because we North Americans wants to get paid higher than the rest of the world. So the question is - who is to blame?

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but here is a very simple example - shop at any popular name brand clothing store that we all favor and look at the tags, how often do you see made in the USA or CANADA, the sad answer is VERY RARE because of high labor cost and I could go on and on until we all turn green.

The only thing that truly bugs me on this is, I only hear this "CHINA JUNK" line on the boat threads but never in any other RC threads, is it because MOST land and air based models are made outside of North America? Dont be quick to answer this line, you might be wrong - are you sure of that?

Hmnnn???

ya know i can see where this thread is going. this will be the same arguement as it was about a year ago with the splashed hulls thread.

bottom line is if your making something by coping someone elses work, at least make it a little different. granted yes some stuff can only be made one way for certain spots, at least try to do smething different. bills a great guy and i always get my stuff from him ery promptly, and it always works perfect. this is the difference between china and usa.

It's very funny. I read somewhere in this froum not long ago
about some european not willing to sell his design to the States.
Cos he felt or found out that it was being copied.

In the thread it was said he's being very childish by doing so.
Cos there is always a way to get it n copy if someone wans to.
But if he sells it, than people will buy only the original.

Now isn't this some thing like that?

I m an Asian. I've lost a lot of jobs due to this method n eventually closed down.
But I've always told myself, others can n will always try to steal from you.
But the one thing they cant steal from you is your knowledge/experience.
So as long as you have that no one can take you down.

Btw, do you know they are registed in the states, or aleast thats what they claimed.

Just my 2cents.

The problem is the mandarin treaty which does not recognise patents and trademarks
So asian countries will copy no matter what it is up to you the manufacture to trade mark a logo or company name and have it on every item you have if they copy your logo and it lands in your country you can have customs destroy the items
I do this with my hulls anyone copy them in australia i can sue
Anyone out side of australia makes them and tries to send them here i can have them destroyed and sue importer
AND TRUST ME I WILL

Topsecret you should seriously look into it that way you can have arrow shark stuff removed from advertising on U.S ebay sites or trading parts like yours in U.S

If it has a logo on it then thats a unique item or design, but as for the actual design itself as has been said before theres only so many ways you can make the hardware we use on our boats.I think your idea is a good one though then the buyer knows for sure who made it.

Yes and thats the whole idea makes the buyer aware straight away if its chinese or top name brand
Only has to put like a T.S logo on it not the whole name

On the other hand ... I know some respected German manufacturers

that import that "crap" china/korea stuff .. fling their logo on it ,

and now it's respected-hardware ... ha ha (no need to tell you it costs twice of three times eBay-dealer-price)

Oh i know mate and its not just happening in Germany either a few dealers in the states sell china hardware as do some in the Uk and then just double the price they paid for it ,while i can understand they need to make a profit i think a 100% markup is pretty much wrong .

the problem is tho mart when you have premises to pay for and staff to pay
and all the insurances you have to make a profit .
its not like working from home like we do you have no overheads if i had to go out and rent a spray booth
one colour on a boat would be £200.
it's just life everything here is expensive.
worked in IT a while back you would be amazed how cheap the parts were to buy but every time
it passes someone's hands the price goes up.
