Further to Mike's post #2967

Hitec - New Products Ihobby Oct 2010 - Display Photos, includes Telemetry & Voice Communication System.
Yes, Talks To You, (ear/headphone socket also) and reads off your telemetry info so you don't have to look at the screen.

Minima 6E/6T ("E"nd and "T"op connectors)  weigh 6g with the case and 4g without. These are non telemetry RX but with full range There have been some question why this has dual antennas when the Optima can use only one BODA? The simple answer is that they are two different animals. Any time you build something that is lightweight you have to make sacrifices but Hitec were unwilling to sacrifice full range thus dual mini BODA's.

Hi Guys,
I'm shopping around for a new TX and I've narrowed it down to the SD-10G and the Aurora 9. They're priced pretty close. The only edge the SD has is I've already got a bunch of RX's. The nice part of the A9 is I can use my AmEx points on Amazon to half the price on it. Makes the bite a little less painfull.
Any arm twisting or gentle prodding could be helpful at this point.

I've owned both. The SD-10G works very well, is rock solid, but it feels very large in my hands and there is a lot of button pushing. I settled on the A9.

The feel is very different so if possible you should try to hold one in your hand to see which one you like.

Hi Tom,
That is exactly what I'm trying to do. This is Spektrum country around here. Never been one follow the crowd.
I will try to put my hands on both before I buy. Have large hands. May end up getting both. I have a lot of airtronics stuff anyway.
I do like the display on the A9 and it is a proven radio. I can also use my points so it's pennies from heaven.

Hi Guys,

just back in hobby this year after 35 yrs away......Wow the changes!  I ended up with the Aurora 9 and absolutely love it.  Only one at my field with one so far......but everyone there seems to wish they had one, but most just bought new radios just before the Aurora  came out.

Also the Tech support from Hitec is THE BEST.  I listen to guys complain they can't get answers to their questions from other brand's tech support.  Yet we can get FAST and RELIABLE answers from Hitec Support right on these forums.

Now with the coming release of new "Micro" rerceivers.......voice telemetry......makes me HAPPY I bought the AURORA 9.

I own the A9 and would suggest you take a very close look at it.
The touch screen and the easy programming put this radio in its own class.
I really miss these features when I am using another brand radio.
The telemetry features built into a stock system are very useful.
There is nothing wrong with the other brands.........but their is a whole lot right with the Hitec Aurora 9.

I generally get Hitec stuff here: http://shop.tomsrc.com/ Prices are good and shipping is only $3. Usually takes only 2 days to Oregon, prolly 4-5 to RI

42etus thanks for reply. I know where to go to buy it, I was hoping someone local had one I could look at. Cheap radios you don't mind
buying sight unseen but a few hundred outlay deserves a look see. I know it's nice radio, just want to fondel it a little before I marry it!

Ok guys, I broke down and ordered the A9 with 7 chan rx.
Amazon had it for $360 from Hobby Shack with free shipping.
Now comes the good part.....I used my AmExp points and so the the whole thing only
came to $170. Not to shabby. It came down like $40 from the other day when I looked.
I'm stoked....now I have try and go to sleep. I just need to find some deals on more rx's.

You will love this radio. I have been flying for over 30 years and have flown every brand including Kraft and Proline over the years. This is the best but not the most expensive radio that I have owned. I bought mine at RC Hobbies in Huntsville Alabama with the 9 channel RX for $350. They could not sell them because most people there use Futaba or JR and would not try Hitec. It is a shame the people don't know what they are missing.

They must of lost money on that deal. Even the 360.00 price with free shipping is a good one.
I bet your in the top ten for lowest price on a A9.
I think youll like the A9........and after you use it a while youll like it even better.
Congrats..........keep us posted when you get it.

I am trying to set up down elevator with the application of flap.
I am using the LS slider for flap control and using the 'FLAP CON' selection to
mix elevator with flap.
Tha problem I am encountering is that the elevator only moves when the LS slider is
in the full up position. I would like the full up position to
represent flap up and as I move the slider down that would lower the flaps.
I cannot seem to get elevator movement when the LS slider controll is fully down.
So what I get after adjustment is flaps up, elevator down, and as I move the slider down to
lower the flaps, the elevator moves up to neutral.

Is there a way to have the elevator move as I move the LS slider down?

Thanks,

Dan

Use a P-Mix to mix Flap -> Elev. In my case, -20% was about right.

Mike,
I am installing the telemetry set and I noticed the fuel sensor is for Glow fuel only.

Any reason why ?

The sensor works with glow fuel only. Gas or mix would not read.

Hi,

I have just purchased a new Aurora 9 and updated the software to 2.0. I fly Mode 1 and updated the transmitter to Mode 1 with the stick change and software selection.

I know when you power up it sends a warning notice before transmitting to forcie you to put the throttle to low. I know this is a safety feature to avoid electrics from potentially starting in high throttle.

However, in Mode 1, throttle is on the right, not on the left. The software does not recognize the throttle as being on the left when in Mode 1. I must pull down the elevator stick on the right as if it was Mode 2, and the throttle could otentially be left on high.

How do I get this safety feature to work with the throttle in Mode 1?

Thanks for your help.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne Miller

As advised separately, the manual was written V1.03 and procedure improved V1.04 to avoid accidental mode changes.

Hi Alan,

Those were the procedures I used, but I skipped the step b) in the "Change Software Mode" where you select "Single" or "Dual Engine". I skipped it since I wasn't actually setting up a model yet and did not think I needed to set up an engine.

When I went back and followed the instructions properly, it worked fine.

Thanks for your help again.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne

There is a second method which will add to  above instructions.
Select new mode under
[System] menu > [Mode] > select new mode > return to [System] menu > [MDL Sel] >[Reset]
Unfortunately, that then resets any programing already done or transferred in from another model or other Aurora for that model.
