Don't know if the smoker works any better than a standard tap or not. I think it would since the oil is being preheated and atomizes better.
I used to use foggers in agricultural applications. We always preheated the fluids before they passed through the injectors for fogging.
And it was only $10 more for the option. So why not

I have all the batteries and switches installed. Here is a photo of the receiver switches(two 2600 LiIon batteries), the other side has a single switch and green led for the ignition battery(7.4v LiIon).

Got the throttle and choke servos mounted. Linkages tomorrow. Also installed the smoke pump and some of the plumbing.
Also tomorrow will be installing the ignition and switch harness, Optical kill switch.
Then all that will be left to do is install the fuel tanks, batteries and cut the cowl.

It looks like I am going to have to cut about 1/8 inch off of each of the aluminum stabilizer mounting tubes.
When everything is pressed firmly together I have a gap between the horizontal stab and the fuselage.

Spinner is all painted and pretty. Also the cowl is cut and mounted. The only thing left to do is install the fuel and smoke tanks. Then preliminary radio set up.

Everything is looking really good. The spinner turned out great. Where do you purchase the red dot? You are ahead of me. I got involved in some other projects. Looking forward to seeing it in the air. Maybe JT will post a video soon.

Hey Guys,
Balance ???
As it sits, on the wheels in the photos without the tail feathers or the main wings it seems very nose heavy.
I just touch the spinner and it will tip forward onto its nose.
Mind you, The tanks are not in, and the receiver batteries are not in. I don't see the tanks making much difference. They look as if they will sit almost directly above the wheel axles.
Are your planes like that? Or is this an indication that I am going to come out nose heavy ?

bdegan,
Your layout looks very similar to mine but I didn't have a problem with the stab tubes. As for the balance, I'm not surprised it tips easily. Just set the cg at the recommended mark and it will be fine, but it is very easy to nose it over, hold elevator when taxiing and be gentle on the throttle. It's not the cg that is causing it, it's the sweep-back of the main gear. I nosed mine over on the first take-off attempt but haven't done it again. As for a video, I'll let someone else do that, my flying is not that impressive and I'm working hard on my IMAC plane right now.

OK Thanks.
The swept back gear looks great. But if it is a problem on my grass field. i will contact Graphtech and order up something without any sweep and paint it white like I did for the spinner.
Unfortunately, a lot of us don't have paved runways

Hey Guys,
Do you think there will be a problem with the carburetor inside the motorbox. I have four other gas planes that have just a small hole for the throttle. I found these stick planes today.

Nice.
Rocco had sent some to the Canadian distributor, I had ordered one but, the Canadian distributor forgot to ship it with my plane.
I am waiting now until there is something more substantial to order to include one in the order.

Another question. I am using 38mm(1.5inches) standoffs on the Evolution 58(4 lbs). The DA50(3 lbs) uses 2 1/2 inch. Would the engine that is 1 inch further aft help the tip over?

How much more does the MT engine and Evolution weigh than the DA 50?

Watching this thread close I may have to have one of these in my stable before the summers gets going. I had the Python with 3W 55 in it and it was a dream to fly I bet this should be as good or better, not sure but does it have a little longer tail moment than the pitts? Should track like it is on rails with lots of Power in the nose.

An engine that sits further aft will help shift the weight back but the EVO58 being a pound heavier cancels its position compared to the lighter DA

Yes, This one is a bit longer than the Pitts. The viseo shows it drawing nice straight lines.
I checked its length with other 50cc class planes. This one is the same length as a monowing plane. Biplanes are are usually short coupled compared to mono's. This one should fly like an arrow.

That is what I thought, I am more of a Pattern/IMAC flyer this ship should be real sweet to fly. I am also looking at something a bit bigger than the 50cc to fly this ship with, may have been this thread where someone had an Ult in this size and had a 3W 85 in it and it flew great, may be nice to find something in the 60 to 70cc range for this ship.

I am very curious to see how it CG's with the Evo 58 and the MT 57 and what the report is on the performance of each with this plane.
