Well after a mammoth building session, the chassis rails are built, the axles are built and the gearbox is in, time for bed!

No the car isn't that extreme any more, the front end was binding up a lot

decided to re-do the car before I head to Florida again on the 11th. Got to love when stuff goes how you planned it... makes life so much easier

yeah! The slant chassis was slanted to much {originally it was NOT for a shaft driven crawler... well now it is on one} so whatever, I am going to my original one but IT will be orange also Got to love all the stuff you can dye. It should look pretty snazzy when done tho

Thanks, you can call me Calvin or CPD {custom parts dude } either works...

How did I dye it, pixie dust, some luck and patience... no I just used a pan with some RIT dye {I guess about 3/4 of a gallon of water to 1 pack of dye, I wanted it concentrated} I soaked the parts in there till the color I wanted was reached. IT was "about" 30 minutes but I like to do everything at once to keep it more "even."

I used white Delrin and it dyes nicely, I love to machine it... mmmm big chip loads

Nice, I like doing my own work for my self but that's just because I am only doing work for my self...

Time to re-assemble the car with the dyed chassis plates and maybe mock up an upper or two

We have been thinking about building some scalers here, just no clue what platform to start with! looking to do trails, mud, some light to moderate crawling, etc.  Basically an exact 180 from the racing scene we are in to encourage me and her to go on more hikes and woodland adventures haha

I'd go AX10 all the way. The axles can be picked up cheap and the aftermarket stuff is huge and if you needed anything made, i'd have an easier time knowing I can make it for my rig.

Once I get my "comp" rig off to Florida, and im not running around like crazy, I want to get my "scaler" going also, im still debating what to do but I got some ideas...

My personal experience with RC4WD stuff is... 50/50... my aX came with a pair of their rims and those stupid things couldn't hold a bead to save their life they do sell cool stuff but comeon Moron... its more fun to MAKE the rig your self

PS: you got Facebook

frames i can do. axles, tires, rod ends, and shocks on the other hand...
i cant make the wheels either, but nether can you (stamped steel). i probably could make a makeshift 2 or 3 speed transmission using various pinions/spurs if i tried but that would take more work than i care to do (hand making everything with a dremel, bench grinder and drill press).
