Thanks for the info Speedboy. I am embarassed to admit that I didn't put all of my effort into the Patriot yesterday. I had some maint issues on a Sukhoi that needed to be addressed. So after all of my "bragging" about how I'd be ready to cover today it looks like maybe tomorrow at the earliest. Oops. I will post pics for sure though once I'm done. Thanks again for sharing your pics and the info!!

Great pictures everyone! I just bought a Patriot XL from my LHS today and now I'm really glad I did.

Looks like most people are ditching those lame plastic engine inlets that are glued to the side of the fuse. I also see most have flaps as well.

Anyone know where I can pick up a Patriot XL? Looks like the kit has been discontinued and not having much luck finding one locally? Thanks for any leads!

i would set up a automatic search or alert on places where you can buy old kits. then when the kit is listed for sale you get an email notification. it shouldn't take too long. the patriot isn't too rare yet.

I have seen plenty of Patriot 40 kits sold on ebay but have yet to see a Patriot xl there. The xl was discontinued about a year ago (I think) so there should be a lot of them out there yet to be built.

Here's mine, built in 1998 and has been a regular flyer since 1999.
1989 O.S. 46sf ABC with an old macs tuned pipe. Just flew her
yesterday at the Bob Swenson Memorial Field(Blackstar Canyon,
Irvine Calif.)  She was clocked on radar at 130mph last year up
in Redding Calif. APC 9x8 prop used most of the time.
This airplane has hundreds of flights on it and is still going strong!!!
 I've got to get another!!!

I JUST DID FLIGHT # 5 TODAY, AND DEADSTICK #5 ! I THOUGHT I HAD THE ENGINE BROKEN IN BUT I GUESS NOT.MY FIRST 4 FLIGHTS WERE UNDER 4 MINUTES,I RE-ADJUSTED THE NEEDLE THIS MORNING AND GOT AN 8 MINUTE FLIGHT BEFORE THE DEADSTICK.AS SOON AS IT LANDED I COULD PUT MY HAND RIGHT ON THE ENGINE(55AX) AND IT WAS COOL. THE PLANE FLIES GREAT BUT THE 55AX IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!! I WILL TRY TO GET SOME PICTURES TAKEN TOMORROW AND LOADED ON HERE(IF I CAN FIGURE IT OUT).

That's it?....  I counted 23 Patriots,  mostly the .40 kit with a few
ARF's and a couple of XL's.  23 Patriots flying or about to fly.
I know of one more Patriot .40. A friend of mine finished
building one recently, he added a rocket motor in the tail
for J.A.T.O. takeoffs. I got to fly mine along side his a few
weeks ago(I still have not seen the rocket assist).

I have a couple of 55AX with the same issue. Work the low end needle first that is where both of mine had the problem. i would make it rich at the high end needle until it has been flown a few times. Do the pinch test. Once they are set right they work great with lots of power.

regarding the unexplained deadsticks on the os ax55, our club members here had some weird deadsticks, and found that replacing the o'rings on the high speed needle fixed the problems.. these guys arent noobs either, they had checked their entire fuel sytems.
