I was wondering when someone would come out with an ultimate Corsair model.

Check out http://www.centuryjet.com (click on Online store once on the centuryjet page)

Makes the Yellow warbirds look inexpensive tho. $2795 w/retracts and wheels...plus shipping and you still need powerful servos and a BIG engine!

Functioning cowl flaps!!! Oh my God!

I want one.

Personally, I would be very suspicious of CJM, been there, done that.

Right on Vince. Their gear have certainly gone down hill, rock bottom shall we say.

My first thought was; I wonder if Robarts will fit the airframe?

I'd have to see (and lift) the airplane in person before I give them $3K.

I agree that Century Jet retracts look...well...home made. I never owned a pair for that reason.

I saw the prototype Corsair fuse at the Pasadena trade show and was less than impressed by it. Granted, it was just the prototype and the production version may be better but buyer beware. Chad

Ignoring the fact that CJM Dealer appears at the base of my post, I have this to offer...

If you (anyone) are considering their gear, opt for struts that are 3/4" or larger for your giant scale projects. I ran them in my Yellow Spit, My American Eagle Bearcat, My Gene Barton B Mustang and a couple others over the years. All of the smaller diameter gear could not stand up to my own personal aggressive style and pace. (I might opt for Yellow's own, Likes Line or Gene Barton along with Robart for A/C 90" and smaller) The larger struts of CJM cant be broke! I tried. I even have a set of 1" diameter gear in my 1/5th scale A-6 Intruder (which will fly one day when I hit that darned lotto) and I will trust them completely on a plane that is going to cost the same as a full sized truck. The gear that Bruce has lined up for the Corsair are in fact the 3/4" versions with the heavy duty mount. Take a good long look at them.

Gear or not, I am gonna pounce on that Hog, soon as funds allow. Bet there will be others too, I mean how many have for-gone the Corsair all because of that beautiful and damned wing? (slowly raising hand)

Keep a watch here on this forum, I plan to get one of those babies, and campaign Scale Masters with it and a Brison 5.8, and will happily report the performance of the plane and gear, good or bad.
The plane can't fail anyway, designed around Don Smith Plans.

Ray,

Can you explain what you mean by aggressive style and pace! And how does this affect retracts?

Just kidding!!! I couldn't help myself...

... I think Ray is going to pounce on me when he sees me at the Sepulveda Basin....
