Status: offline 		Man, I have a hard time conceiving some of these large engines in that air frame.
When I bought my BN Citabria, it had a Fox .78 RC engine in it! The instructions called for , I believe a .60 to .90 engine. That being said, I do plan on refurbishing mine with an O.S. 1.60.... Why do we so often "overpower" our planes? Perhaps I've sen too many episodes of "Tool Time" w/ Tim Allen...eh eh eh

Status: offline 		I seem to recall years ago the original plan suggested a .90 two stroke or similar. Around then an old friend built one and powered it with an OS .90. I seem to recall it flew, but very tame.

Some time later - mid 80`s?, I acquired a a damaged one - rebuilt it and powered it with an ST 3000. That was a great machine - eventually sold it, but still have an old kit gathering dust around here somewhere...

Status: offline 		Think this DLE 35 rear exhaust will be a good match for the BN Citabria, fits in the cowl with room to spare and and no trimming the cowl.

Status: online 		IIRC, a popular option back then was to use a .90 with a Dubro Belt Drive so it would swing a larger prop.

I think that's because larger nitro engines were not popular or available back then.

just a guess...

As I said in an earlier post, I am putting a Quadra 35 in mine (vintage plane should have a vintage engine, plus I already have it). With that large wing, it wont know that heavy engine is there, and as I'm not looking to do any 3D type flying, it should be fine.

Status: offline 		Just make sure your wing struts, tail bracing and attachement points for both are adequately fabricated and up to the task in case you get carried away the throttle stick. I've seen a 40cc powered Nosen Citabria turn into a plummeting Bonanza like "V-Tail" when the horizontal stab folded upwards pulling out of a high speed power on dive! I fly mine gently, slow and gracefull like with my Saito 150 similar to a little old lady driving her trusty Buick to church on a calm sunday morning.

Status: online 		Everything you said makes sense and I do not plan on trying to fly it past half throttle anyway.

My other choice is a Kalt G22 or an RCS 140.

Mine is all framed waiting for the next step so there are still options.

Status: offline 		Thanks Bass1, made lots of mods to handle the DLE35 and considering sheeting the tailfeathers with 1/8 balsa, some flexing going on with that 3/8 horizontal stab. Coverite Fabric coming in next week and doing a copy of your beautiful bird, red/white, good looking BN Citabria. I'll post more pics deeper into the build.......Mike

Status: offline 		I popped a 40 twin in a sig 1/4 scale cub 108" wing,and even with a supper cub cowl on it sticks out more enough,I had a G-23 in it first.its like replacing a firecracker with a handgranade,tottaly rad.there is never to much power.
