Status: offline 		Finally my tnx is almost done. Running on a 27cc stihl engine, this thing has some serious torque. Let me know what you think.

Status: offline 		It cost me a whole few bucks for a spark plug. I got the engine out of a weedwacker someone was throwing out. I knew it had a clutch so I grabbed it while I could. Everything else I already had or made/machines myself. I finally got to run this puppy in a gravel bank and it's just like the 5b vids you see where they power up dunes. It feels awesome to finally run it after so much work. Now I just need some steel rear driveshafts and some rear paddle tires. It's actually set up to be 4wd, I just need to find a short enough front shaft that will not bind. I may try a revo front shaft.

Status: offline 		Are you using stock internals in the trans? And any shots of how you mated the engine to the trans? Looks like a direct drive set up of sorts. Pretty cool!

Status: offline 		The internals are all stock, it's locked in second gear. I machined some heavy duty traxxas yokes to go over the clutch and tranny output shaft. I then drilled and pinned the yokes onto the shaft/clutch. It's holding up well so far, the weak link seems to be the shafts going to wheels as the center driveshaft is 3/8" solid steel if I remember correctly. I am going to be picking up some steel drive shafts and a maxx front shaft to modify so I can have 4wd.

Status: offline 		Ordered all tnx 5.2 steel driveshafts for all four corners and ordered a front center shaft so i can hook up the 4wd. Once that's all set I will try to remember to get some vids...if the snow ever melts.

Status: offline 		That is sweet! What is the frame made out of? Looks like a pretty simple setup. At one time i had converted my t-maxx to a gasser, but i needed some better parts, and it was a lot of problem. The worst thing is that the driveline isnt made to hold the weight or torque of the motor, and it can cause problems, but they sure are neat.

Status: offline 		Thanks. The chassis is 14" lexan with 3/4" angle aluminum reinforcements. It would snap driveshafts by the minute, so i got all steel dogbones and the tranny and diffs seem to be holding up. Still running only in 2wd because I need to find a strong enough replacement front center shaft.

Status: offline 		Does it seem very top heavy? I ended up making a plate to bolt to the bottom of the diffs that was kind of like a "pan" chassis. It sat down about like a buggy does. I never got to run it that way, but id have to think it would have handled good. You might try it later on down the road if you wanted to mix it up.

Totally AWESOME WORK!! It looks like its slow? Is it? Again AAAAAA++++++++++ For effort and design! Its more fun making something work than buying something of the shelf!!

Status: offline 		Thanks! It does 25+ which I would consider fast enough for a model of such size and weight. Unfortunately it's back to the drawing boards with a few parts which have failed on me since the first few runs. Needs a carb cleaning as well.

I found a Ryobi whipper snipper (weed wacker) with a Scorpion 26cc engine today that someone threw out. It didn't start but i am taking it apart to clean it because it really dirty. The spark plug gave no spark and the fuel like was hard as rock and it cracked. Once i finish cleaning it i will put it back together and i will try to get it running. Then hopefully one day i will be able to buy a baja roller and stick this engine in it.

so true, when i switched to largescale from nitro (used to have a shummy 21XT which hit 60mph pretty much stock) my FG hits about 40 stock, slower yup, but the size & power compared to my shummy more than makes up for it!

nice work dude ..what shell u gunna use.. a nice ST shell will work well with that

Status: offline 		Stihl. A fine choice. One out of the trash is just as good as one out of the showroom. Usually they give up on them when the carb stops working, or when the points on the older ones quit. Which is a shame because the engines themselves are pretty tough. Alot of them can be woke up with just a new ring and some light sanding on the cylinder.
