Hey fat head, ummmm... didn't the jets come with the steering nozzles? Having a rudder kinda half defeats the purpose of jet drive system.

You take her out yet? Video?

lol, yea i ahve them. i dont go in shallow water. i have a big pond behind my house and i wanted to try the rudder before i put on the nozzles. i wanted to try something different. plus with trying to think of a way to control 2 nozzles with 1 servo i didnt want the headache at this time, lol.

Actually in controlling the two nozzles u pretty much have it setup. Just get the one nozzle working then connect rod from one to other. It would have been easier if you had drilled on right side o jet but still doable currently.

Another thing the maiden may reveal, could be the outside jet drawing air when turning, due to the fact they are rather far from the keelline, instead of mounted close together.

You may want to sand the jet intake surroundings smooth, those glue spillings don't help with a good flow.

Let us now how things develop. Keep an eye on the battery temperature, it looks pretty small for two 600 motors.

Regards, Jan.

Any concern with water coming in the rudder control rod hole? I know it's above the water line, but . . . I'm probably over cautious and would put a boot on it.

well i took her out last night with a 7.2 4000mah battery that dumps 30 amps to the motors and it was horrible. it was barely moving in the water. what is the deal?? do i need more volts?? 2 batterys?? i just dont know. its kinda dishearting thinking it would do alright but to not even come close. what do you guys think?

im not sure who i told this to but the speed 600 wouldnt be a good for any kinda speed with that drive inless you run on 3s lipos . they are way to heavy . and wont turn the kinda rpm that drive needs . thats why i sugested brushless . i have gone as high as 49k on that drive with great realsts . the reson is the impeller has a low pitch and its only 19mm so it wont make much thrust under 16k i thank your in the ball park of 8k thats why your not going anywhere

and here is a pic of how i set up deal steering nozzles

sorry man sec look at the pic the motors are not getting all the power eather look at the tiny pig tails coming off of the motors what size wire is that 14ga and the tommya connater isyynt helping

Put batt in parrael and run 14.4v till stuff melts ! SHould be fun for a bit, do spurts and it might last longer, then replace with brushless 3900 40amp motors! Tons o fun then. Draw for duel drive on that 3900rpm/kv 40 ampers should be less than 21 thats pulled for a single.... maybe 30-35amps total draw? Just a guess on the last part.

p.s. I understand the sheer frustration when stuff doesn't work as u expect it, specially this jet drive stuff. Just keep at it, u'll get it with hundreds of thousands of dollars later!

but then you wont have the torq to get to 29k it will bog it down and burn something up youll need a 550-600 brush or 20-28mm brushless that can turn 25-50k

True but he's running double... 2x300=600! Original knock off came with 300 right? Ahh... give it a try anyways if you already have the motors, won't need as much torque as a single but still alot.

i already have 2 speed 600 on this thing and it goes nowhere. i was staying away from brushless because i just didnt have the cash to drop over 100 on motors and esc's. so i went with the 600 as that is what graupner said they recommend. so i seen the 2 300 and thought with less weight and a lil more rpm she might do it. but i think i need to find something that will spin atleast 35k or better.

airason of the impeller ,motor overheating pulling to many amps . could cook the esc if not large anof to support the over load . or even the batterys could do the same .

Are your 600's spooling up? If they are whining but the boat isn't going (anywhere fast), it's my bet you're getting bad cavitation due to the jets being so far to the outside of the hull, like was mentioned before. You would need to go dead forward (and not too fast) for that arrangement to work (if at all). If you move them to the inside 2 journals it should do much better. Sundog

no there not spooling up. they are bogged down and not enough power to make them go faster. i would have to add more battery to make them speed up and then i still wont get the results i want.

heres a lil update after i could finally take it into open water.

i was kinda happy with it, but not. i would say it was doing between 8-10mph on the water. my other boat does 10mph with a gps. so it wasnt to bad. the rudder did ok, but i want to try the nozzles now. run time with the batterys were about 15 mins before it started to slow down. as for them performing where the drives are, they worked great. no issue besides on a real hard turn. once i get some better motors it will be nice. the 2 600 did ok, but def need more power.
