My buddy flew his 1/3 H9 Cap today for the first time and its doing something weird.
He says that it flies perfectly under most conditions. The problem is when the plane slows down to landing speed the nose pitches up rather aggresively. He has the CG set right in the center of the balance range.
Anyone else have this problem with this plane?

Sounds like either the engine has too much down thrust or you have some flap dialed in to the ailerons.

I just talked to him again. His engine is set at 0 degrees. Wings are +1/2 a degree and stab is also +1/2 degree. (those were set by H9)
Has there been any info on the recommended CG range for this plane? He is at 5-1/2 back from the LE. instructions say 4 to 5-3/4. Where are most guys flying their CG's at?

It's a CAP it needs about 1 degree of up in the engine.

The guys I've read online over the last six months talk about right over the wing tube or just behind it. Which looks like 4 to 4-1/2" to me. I started there and took 60 flights to get back to 5-1/2" which I feel is a little tail heavy for normal aerobatics... but pretty nice for 3D.

If he's a 3D pilot... he'll want to leave the cg where it is and get used to landing it on the tailwheel first. That's how most of my landings where and will be on my new one. :-)
