Sicmaxx55 -> Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 7:22 AM)

Hey im picking up a mini mgt 3.0 this friday and i was wondering if there are any LARGE downsides that i should know about? And what upgrades should be bought for light bashing like small jumps and the occasional roll. One other question how hard is it to wheelie this truck?

ilanstylz -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 7:27 AM)

Some people have no problems making their 3.0 wheelie, but a few like me do....... I run my very rich because of the weather here plus I'm new to rc's so right now I'm trying to learn more how to drive them then wheelie them ;-)....... But with the right tune you should be able to wheelie them pretty easily...... As far as upgrades, maybe some bigger tires using either the 17mm or 23mm hex adapters........ The only downside that I've experienced and I've read others have, is the stock engine tends to overheat, so you want to watch how much you lean it out and check the temp every now and then........

Sicmaxx55 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 7:35 AM)

Thanks alot. While running your lean does it still run good? Because my savage and lst2 run strong lean or rich. Any random weak partS?

ilanstylz -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 8:01 AM)

It still runs good, and you will see the power difference..... I'm still learning to tune, so I don't want to risk having mine lean to much and do unnecessary damage to the engine....... I've bashed my 3.0 for over two weeks pretty hard, and so far the only thing that I've broken so far is the front bumper ring, which I dont feel is to important for me to worry about replacing anytime soon.......

sincityshooter -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 8:10 AM)

there pretty sturdy trucks.

Like ilanstylz said the bumper rings tend to break.. i broke a rear one but if they break there doing there job

Sicmaxx55 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 9:33 AM)

gotcha does anyone know where i can get some hop-ups for it?

sincityshooter -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 9:48 AM)

you can find aluminum parts on ebay i think integy(sp) makes them.. new era models sells a kit to put a big block motor in it

Sicmaxx55 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 9:25 PM)

i'd like to keep it small block and find a power house .18 to put in it. I want great wheelies on demand and still keep it around 37-39mph. A big block would be nothing put wheelies

sincityshooter -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/11/2009 11:20 PM)

true, i like the stock motor, it smokes my friends mgt [:D]

scott36 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 1:14 PM)

if you add a set of new tires with 1/2 offset rims it will handle better and look cooler to. love mine.

breezerboat -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 6:53 PM)

Scott36, which rims and tires do you suggest? Would bigger tires help with wheelieing?

twomanytoys -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 7:23 PM)

I use Maximizer beedlock whels with 1/2 offset. They are awsome.

breezerboat -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 7:41 PM)

Holy Cheetoes!!! those things aren't cheap. What tires? What does 1/2 inch offset mean?

twomanytoys -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 8:14 PM)

1/2 offset means the wheels will set the width of the truck wider than stock. The center of the wheel where the hex is bolted is set 1/2 inch closer to the hub. Axial also makes good beadlocks. Yes they are not cheap but well worth it. You wont ever have to buy wheels again. No gluing and if you break a wheel you just replace the broken part for about $4.00 instead of buying a whole wheel. Pro line Badlands are one of the best tires you can get. Very agressive tread and awsome traction in any condition.

these are the ones i use and they look cool to. i dont think bigger tires will help with doing whellies tho.

scott36 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 11:01 PM)

here is a pick of full off set tires and rims, cant find the pics with the 1/2 off set put you will get the idea here, the truck mesures a full 17.5 inchs wide with full off set rims and tires.

breezerboat -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/12/2009 11:39 PM)

GEEZE LOUIS!!! That thing is wide. And do you ever drive it? It's clean as new and no scratches.

scott36 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/13/2009 12:40 AM)

yep i do drive it , its been winter here so getting dirty is on the summer list of things to do.

You dont want a toki engine. Yuck! [:'(] Get a better mill. You want great low budget power then look at a Sportwerks 26v2 or 21v2. Best engine for about 120.00. The Toki will not last long and have heat and air leak problems.

kuade -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/15/2009 6:45 AM)

I can kind of do wheelies if i take out the front drive axles....

Sicmaxx55 -> RE: Mini Mgt 3.0 Upgrades??? (3/16/2009 10:50 AM)

I run 30% trinity monster horsepower fuel and i run it rich my motor stays cool around 220 and will wheelie almost on demand. Very good set-up.
