Running Byrons 15% and a Tornado 6X3 it turned 14,000 but I think it needs more nitro to be happy.
The compression on this piece seems low. Easy starter though.

Glider, the title says "rotary valve .049" so no it's not a reed engine.

Glider, the title says ''rotary valve .049'' so no it's not a reed engine.

I'm just proving that I'm human by misreading or overlooking the title line.

Looking over some notes I took on 10 of these engines, one turned 14,400 the others were all in the 13,000 range. I think I was using 15% fuel, and a 6x3 prop, don't know what brand.

Do you know what fuel you were running? And the prop. I will do some more testing in the future.

Omega 15% and a 6x3 prop, I don't remember what brand, performance can vary greatly from one brand to another. I hope to run my engines again this season, I think I have of 16 of them now.

Personally I would be using a fuel with a much higher oil content. Omega only contains 17% oil. I would be using 20% or higher in a lapped iron piston engine like these. I have a bottle of Sig 10% nitro 25% all castor that I like for these types of engines. I like a little more nitro but 10% is all I had at the moment.

I added 4 ounces of castor oil to the gallon so that put the lubrication up around 19.5 percent. My Omega fuel is almost gone, then I will be using Trinity Platinum 30% nitro with 11 ounces of castor oil added per half gallon, that gives about 21.6% lubrication and 25.6% Nitro. This works out good for me because 3 gallons of fuel, can be modified with 2 quarts of castor oil, plus a few ounces more from the drugstore.
