Today was the successful maiden flight of my new American Eagle AT-6. 102" Span, robart retracts, Futaba 8UAP, 4.2 Sachs on mag.
36 pounds. Wind right down the runway, we couldn't have asked for a better day. This is going to be one fun airplane.

Hi FP,

That's a good looking AT6! How do you like American Eagle Kits? I have a American Eagle F8F waiting to be built. Glass work seems to be ok but there are a lot of pin holes. I hope my maiden flight goes as well as yours.

Hey Bill, Happy to hear the first adventure with your new AT6 went well. Sounds like you have a keeper in this one too. Ya gotta love when it all comes together.

Thanks guys, I love it when a plan comes together.
The last airplane I built, I made the mistake of putting one of those servo reversers in a Y connector for the elevator. The aircraft flew like it was on rails for the first 4 minutes, until the servo reverser went south on me. Every time I pulled up elevator, the plane would roll to the left. Tough to gain altitude with the elevators doing that. The result was a horrible crash that destroyed everything in the aircraft except the engine and a couple of servos. This maiden flight was viewed with much anticipation. Thank God it was successful, you know my knees were shaking and heart pumping.

Are those skeletons in the cockpit? Or are my eyes really getting bad.

I don't mind the shaking knees but those shaking thumbs are really hard to deal with! I had hard time trimming a plane recently because of it, if it were the knees I could always sit down!

Nice job on the detail work Bill. I have to say guys, I fly with Bill and he builds and details like nobody else. Well I can't leave Lenny out when you talk about fine buliding. This is one beautiful airplane subject to win Best Military at the FlyIn this April if Lenny leaves his gorgeous BF 109 at home. Nahhh... Sure glad I'm not a judge this year. What a nice show saturday on you maiden flight.
Hope to see often.
