A friend of mine has several OS engines, .46 SF and .61 SF, with worn out cylinders and liners. He would like to repair the engines but doesn't want to pay the high price that Tower charges for these parts. Does anybody know of a more economical source for these parts that he could contact?

There really isn't a piston & sleeve assembly available for less $$ than the original replacement assembly from O.S. And Tower usually has the better prices. If you ask around at your local hobby shop(s) you might be able to convince them to give you a deal since they probably would need to order it anyway. Maybe they'll get it for you for just a few bucks over cost. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Gentlemen

There are alternatives: Look at

1. Just Engines

www.justengines.co.uk

Replacement pistons and liners with real chrome plating to suit 46 SF's and FX's. I'm not sure about 61's though. Well priced too.

2. Saturn Hobbies.

They do a "plasma" liner for OS motors. Very pricey but apparently a real performance uplift and increased life expectancy. I don't know the web site for Saturn but they do have one. They advertise here on RCU. There is also a thread in this forum called "plasma liners" which will tell you all you need to know.

regards
