My 63 ready to put on motor mount weighs 18.25 oz. w/ prop nuts, thrust washer, check vavle, H9 fuel filter, muffler, fuel lines. All you have to do is put on prop, mount motor, and hook up the fuel lines.

240.00 + shipping from Central Hobbies.

I have a little over 1 1/2 gallon of Bryon 20/20 thru it. Its getting stronger every weekend.
13x6 APC 11,400 peak. fly it around 10,400
14x4 Zinger 10,500 peak fly it around 9,900-10k.
I fly near Memphis, TN.

Absolutely linear throttle responce. The pressurized fuel system makes sure it never dead sticks. The only dead sticks I have ever had with this motor is when I run out of fuel. Most motors will start to lean out or have power surges when the tanks start getting real low on fuel. Not my YS 63. It runs from the time I start it until I run it out of fuel.

Best motor I own. If all motors was made and ran like the YS 63. Flying would be much more enjoyable, instead of trying to figure out how to set low ends, high ends, power surges, burn out glow plugs, back firing, not enough power.

According to a certain YS faq site, FZ63 has marked 1.5BHP whereas OS 70 is documented 1.1BHP and Saito 65 0.95BHP. Seems this is possible due to unique fuel delivery system and pump system.

FYI,
FZ91 - 2.0BHP
FZ120 - 2.4BHP
FZ140 - 2.9BHP
DZ140 - 3.5BHP (Surprizing!)

For comparison to OS,
FS91II (pump) - 1.6BHP
FS120III (pump) - 2.1BHP
FS120SP - 2.5BHP

For comparison to Saito,
FA91 - 1.7BHP
FA120 - 2.2BHP
FA150 - 2.5BHP
FA180 - 2.8BHP

Hope above help...

Horsepower figures don't make for real-world comparisons.

I agree with the above post. Quoted horsepower figures are all but useless, as many are obtained uner conditions and RPM's unachievable under actual flying conditions.

With that said, I own and fly BOTh the YS .63 and also the O.S. Surpass .70 (older version). I should say that my .70 has a LOT more time on it than my YS, so I am sure it is well broken in, while the YS is still getting there. I LOVE both engines, and my YS on higher nitro fuel does definately make more power. However, in actual "in the air" comparrisons, I would have to say the engines are still closer in power output that quoted "factor" horsepower numbers might indicate. Also remember that to get the great handling and high power out of my YS I rountinely am using 20 to 30% Nitro fuel, while the O.S. chugs along hapily on 10% fuel!

From my experience, the O.S. idles better. The Y.S. has a real funky airbleed type carb that I could never get a real handle on.

Once set right my ys 63 will idle really really low. I have never tached it but you would think it would die any second but you can fire wall the throttle and the engine just screams to life. The YS is a strong little engine. They do like the 20 percent niitro fuel though, but an os will never touch them power wise. A OS will be a more user freindly engine ie. easier to tune, easier to to start. One little itty bitty peice of dirt in a ys will drive you crazy trying to get it to run right. People rountinley think I am running a 91 four stroke, but when I tell them its only a 63 they are very surprised. I would buy another YS is a heart beat over the OS. I like both engines but you are getting more motor for your money with the YS 63. YS calls them a pocket rocket for a reason! Of course this is just all my opinion.

Thanks for all your replies!
Just ordered an OS .70 210USD shipped.
As a newcomer to 4 stokes I think most powerful isn't that important, also I want to run low (15%) nitro, which I'm using in my heli. I checked other threads and found OS would be a reliable and easy tuned engine for a newbie like me.

pang,
I was a new comer to 4 strokes when I bought My YS 63. I only one 4 stroke. YS 63. Start saving your money. when somebody shows up with a 63 at your field. You will want one.

I own the only YS 63 at our field. All the old dudes fly OS and saitos 72. When I had my 63 on my something extra they thought I had a saito 91. I had to land to prove I had a 63.

Pang,
Don't worry, if this is your first 4 stroke, I think you will be quite happy with your O.S. .70. Like I said above, I have both engines, and you couldn't go wrong with either one. However, when I saw you from Hong Kong, I realized that High Nitro fuel might not be easily (or cheaply) available there. Though I love all my YS engines (53, .63, .91, and 1.20), I have seen plenty people get upset with them because they either couldn't or wouldn't run high enough Nitro in them for them to work to their maximum potential.

If the day comes where you want all the power you can get, and you can get a good quality high Nitro fuel, there is nothing to prevent you from picking up your first YS engine!
Have fun,
Lee

My first YS 4 stroke two months ago a YS 63, 2nd 1 Week ago YS91, third arriving tomorow YS91. You can see the craziness.. once bitten by a YS 4stroke everything else seems.. I still love my saito 180 tho but the ys is in a class of its own.
Interesting part is that I run 10%coolpower.. yeah..i'm a cheapskate..no really I have ys 20-20 but prefer 10%coolpower as I have this notion the engine will last longer on 10%; please correct me if I am very wrong in my belief.
Using 10% CP on the 63, I get 10800 on 12x7 and I use it on a pattern plane weighing 6lb 6oz.
I was breaking in my 91 on a 14x10 on a new warbird over the gusty weekend, now waiting for a calmer day to fly .. and thanks guys for the interesting information and experiences on props with YS.
On a matter of comparison, the ys63 idles perfect just out of the box, just like capthis says a few posts above but the idle setting on the 91 took a few runs to get it right(still breaking in the engine).
I will try the 91 on 20/20 next.

Vim

Mr. Pang, your selection on OS 70 is excellent.

In power, YS is second to none but premised is that they are properly configured. I like YS but not good to me now since I am new to 4 cycle myself.

Currently I am flying with OS 91 and satisfied. Easy to start, not many things to adjust but just needle. Power not bad.

Couple of months later, gonna use a Saito and another couple of months finally YS when I feel confident that I got enough skills to handle them right.

Yes fuels are not so cheap here (coolpower 15% 16USD, coolpower 30% 23USD)! Many people said YS engines love high nitro...
