Here's my latest AP vid. Note the near mid air collision with a 737 inbound to IND. My TCAS picked it up right away on departure and advised me to immediately turn left. Just barely made it!! Thank God for the TCAS on my Slow Stick!

There is one circulating on YouTube or Yahoo of a similar event in Australia. The guy was VERY close to the 737, so much so that it landed him in jail. It has put a very bad spotlight on modeling in Australia, and especially after the guy showed his video of the 737 screaming past his little plane with its onboard camera.
Though I don't think yours respresents anything so dangerous, I can't open it to see it, I would be careful about advertising it loudly....

The title of your thread and the video are neither funny nor necessary. You obviously are flying over school property. Grow up.

How about this of a 747 into London LHR. It was about 3 miles away at the same height and we were about 6 miles from the airport.

In fact the other club field closest to my home is less than a mile from LHR.

See around 1:30

Sorry for the crap flight, it was pretty windy and the easystar is so light.

2thdr, thanks! I'm glad someone appreciates my sense of dry humour. Hey, I haven't seen any vids from you lately, but I haven't been RCU much lately.

K3, i'm just trying to have fun. Why grow up? I'm 46 and having fun flying toy airplanes! What's wrong with school property? It's a private school, in the evening, no body around.

very interesting. I new, this is the first vid I've seen, from a plane, and would like to know what equipment was used, how much did it weight , what plane was it on and the size of the plane, type of motor, and anything else you might think relivent. Whats a TCAS.

                                              Thanks

Any suggestion of RC planes interfering or hitting a comercial aircraft just isn't funny in today's world and does not help the hobby at all. You obviously just don't get it!

No, he gets it.

Anyone who views the video can see the plane was not even remotely close to where he was flying.   The title is just an attention grabber.  It would only offend those with "delicate sensibilities".

Relax..............have a beer or something.

TCAS stands for Traffic Collision Avoidance System.

He was joking about the TCAS, as the system would cost somewhere in the five or six figure range and be much too heavy for a Slow Stick......

Videomike,
Yep, TCAS is for Traffic Collison Aviodance System. Airlines use it on  jets to monitor other traffic in their airspace. If another a/c gets too close, TCAS will call out voice commands to avoid the other a/c.
My AP a/c : GWS SLow Stick
engine: E-Flite Park 450
ECS: E-flite 20 amp
Camera: Aiptek PocketCamX, it is modified with a connector to plug directly into your receiver. Bought at http://www.rcplanecams.com/camcart/.
It's nothing fancy compared to some of the other guys on here, but it's fun and a start.

TCAS will give you a command to climb, or descend, not turn. If you have a TCAS equiped aircraft that is interrogating the TCAS in another  aircraft,  and the TCAS decides there is a chance of an impending threat, they will decide without ATC instruction which aircraft should climb, and which one should descend, and display/ synthetic voice "Climb, climb now" commands and Descend, descend now" to the appropriate aircraft. . In fact, pilots are trained to follow  this TCAS command, rather than an ATC instruction, though you must advise ATC immediatly.
If you just have a passive, encoding altimeter, that a TCAS equiped aircraft interogates, it will send a command to the Jet aircraft to climb or descend too, if you enter the "protected airspace zone" generally 14nm and 1000 feet vertical from the TCAS aircraft.

Still, a rather poor choice of your subject line.  You should move that wire blocking your lens, too.

I do not have children of my own, but I love spending time and playing with my nephews and nieces. I do not make that much money, but I try to always to have something nice to give to Tom and Roxana as presents. They loved the radio-controlled toy boats that I gave them as Christmas gifts. Now, they want radio-controlled toys as presents for every holiday and special occasion. Thank God, they do not cost that much, although the toys are of great quality and look great too; maybe, the fact that they are manufactured in China by the company Manuflex Group explains the relatively low prices of these toys. As holidays approach, I find myself frequently visiting their website www.manuflexgroup.com, although I keep reminding myself that I should maybe come up with some new kinds of presents to give to my nephew and niece.

First  - K3, it's all in fun, I agree maybe lighten up on the coffee just a little. I see your point, but they are right, that plane probably wasn't even in the same county.

Dirt - great video! I really would like to capture some from mine. What I cant figure out is how to get the camera mounted. I think I may need to add some stiffeners to the wing. Then maybe I could use the shoulder mount. I have a feeling I may need more motor too. How long is a VHS tape anyway?

Joseph - Sounds like a tasteless plug for another lead-paint Chinese company. Uh, SPAM!!! Please quietly go away! Mods need to remove.

Since 9/11 any reference to commercial airliners and crashes or midairs etc just isn't a good subject to make light of! The title of the thread offends me not the reality of his photography. I understand it was done as an attention grabber but still in poor taste in my book. A lot of us have kids in the military now and take this stuff to heart.

You have got to be kidding!!!!!!! You probably are offended by "dead end" road signs. The title of the thread "offends" you? Seriously? "Poor taste" in your book? What book? This is such a great example of how anyone can claim anything is "offensive" to them for any reason they want. I flew in the military for 10 years - what in the world am I to take to heart? I'd be laughing my head off if I weren't crying.

My friend told me he disliked his Sig Kadet - I was greatly offended because my uncle was named "Sig" and he died of cancer, and even worse, I was an Air Force Academy "Cadet" for four years before graduating. Can you believe he would say such a thing?

Kurt

I'm sure the vortices from the full scale set your RC into a loop at that distance.

Hey, I'm kidding, lighten up.
