Hi, I am almost ready to maiden my p-51, have a thunder tigre g-3250 for power, fit in good but seems a little nose heavy when ballanced.
Wondering if anyone else has used this engine in theirs, and if so how did it work out?
Also notice tt g3250 is 43oz w/o muffler, but 200ti saito is 51oz without muffler, leads me to fiugre the 200ti needs tail weight???
    Any input appreciated thx!

FYI... I bought this on RCU and after upgrading the retracts to CJM centurion air retracts / struts I am damn happy with it!
Although I hate CJM's air valve and will probably replace the leaky thing with a Robart valve.

The Roto 25 gas engines pulls this plane great. It's still breaking in but is damn reliable. I highly reccomend this engine if you want to convert this P51 to gas!

I also have this plane with the Century Jet retracts and a Saito 180.I am also very happy with mine. Were you able to use the gear doors with the Centurions????? (or was that picture taken with the stock retracts?) I tried every way I could think of to use the doors, but I couldn't make it work.

I bought mine last August and flew it for the first time this past weekend. She has Robart retracts in her that work really well. I love this plane. She flies like a dream.

I'm still working on getting the retract doors onto mine, but I am going to have to do some work on the wheel wells to sort that out.

Reference back to page 13 "Post 303 & 304"..........sinking the retract mounting rails is the only way you are going to be able to flush fit the doors.

The doors don't really need to be flush. I used the Robart mounting blocks and when the gear is up the doors are about 1/8th " from flush. Can't see it at 90mph!

Capt G: Is there any chance you have a pic of the gear well with the gear retracted?

Countryboy: Did you ever install the Saito 200TI that you spoke about. I have the 180 in mine and I'm as happy as a pig in sh**, but I'm interested to know how the 200TI shakes out for people. I have heard a lot of bad reports about that engine and keeping the plugs hot.

Bob, I didn't know the Roto 25 has enough power to pull this plane.

Anybody figure out why they discontinued this plane? I have one, and other than the retracts I've only had (and heard) positive experiences with this plane!

Someone in my club sent Horizon an email, and their only reply was a noncommittal they may bring it back at a future date.

Maybe because it has an odd wingspan? They should have made it 80".

I think the 77" WS and bad press on the retracts were both factors that kept sales down. It takes a lot of money to get a H9 150 ready to fly and for the $$ it really should have been big enough to meet IMAA.

I lost my original 150 'Stang when the radio earlier this year when the radio went out for some reason (total loss) but just picked another up off of E-***. I really liked the plane, I miss it and I still have all the assorted parts and pieces needed to put another together right.

I have a 200Ti. A long break-in process but with the right prop and fuel it flys the 150 Stang nicely, sounds cool, and adds to the interest factor. Bruce, my engine did want to drop a cylinder for the first couple of gallons but I had onboard glow to keep both cylinders lit. And after a few gallons it really didn't need it. I probably won't install the glow on my new plane.

    Walt

When was this plane discontinued? It is one of my favourite flyers. Gereat 'warmer upper' for the Byrons or Yellow Aircraft. That is a shame. They should stop making some of the real crap they have been putting out and keep the big Mustang, and make a Spitfire version of it.

Try Hobby Lobby - they have WW11 American, British and German instruments, not the complete panel however, in 1/5 and 1/4 scale - you need 1/6 scale but the 1/5 shoul
