I live in Durham, NC. I can deliver within 150 miles, if the Hurricane doesn't deliver it sooner!

Never mind, I found it back in the posts I was looking at (you know the old forest for the trees routine!)

    Century jets with a saito.

By "setup" I assume you mean equipment and performance.

I used the Saito 200 Inline Twin turning an APC 18-6 wide prop at 8500 static. Exhaust is Saito flex pipes. Uses Century Jet retracts with stock wheels and adjustable air valve. Hitec HS-425BB servos all around (except HS-55 on air valve) 1650 mah NiMH 5 cell battery Tru-Turn 5" spinner, JHM DGS-2 on-board glow lighter, graphics, pilot and dash by Cajun.

Flies just fine. Weighs just over 16 pounds dry. Not absolute vertical, but good enough for 2 victory rolls. Lands fine with or without flaps. Sounds like no other engine I have ever heard. Not like an opposed twin, more like, well, an inline 6!

Duplication cost would be well over $2000.00

Bottom line? Knock off 30%. No trades.

May consider without engine and on-board glow, but you'd need another chin cowl, or use the same engine. For this, knock off 50% from duplication cost

Countryboy..., in response to your post no. 120 on the century jet retract.., is the p/n, etc you used as per century's site as follows:

    Hargar 9 P-51 150 with 1/2" Struts
    Product #: 35388

"These landing gear are specifically designed for the new 77" wing span Hangar 9 P-51 150. They come with 2 upper mechanism, two 1/2" diameter stainless steel oleo struts, axles, and air system".

Were you able to put the doors on, and how are they working out for you so far? Easy modification to install? Was the above P/N what you installed?

    thanks...

    Hey Pettit,

Why are you selling this aircraft? It's only been on the market a couple of months?

I am getting some spring loaded struts from Canada to replace the supplied 9forever bending) wires that come with the H9 P-51 1.50. Due to some time out of time out of town I won't get to fly with them until after 10-1. I'll post a report then. PS: I tried heat treating the supplied wires but they got so brittle that one snapped in half. Horizon told me today that they are ready to take orders for some new titanium wires for this bird but shared some concern that a bad landing could cause some damage to the retract support rails.

Just got mine in yesterday. Stole it for $355 NIB. This is a great looking plane. Any ideas on where I can find black 4-blade props?

I epoxied and fiberglassed in some 1/4" aircraft grade ply under the rails. It really seems to have helped.

    rckymtn1,

Yes, that is the correct p/n for the retracts. To install the retracts in the stock mounting rails is very easy, with only minor trimming necessary. The drawback.... the wheels will not be fully in the well. The back side of the tire will be exposed outside the wheel well. The strut will also not be recessed enough to install the doors flush with the skin.
The only way to remedy this is to modify the mounting rails to get the gear deeper into the wing. This will hold true for other retracts of similar style to the Century Jet retract. Witness that Mulligan went through the same problems while installing Robart gear.

Hope this has helped in answer to your questions.

    Hello,

Flown 5 flights on mine.....very easy to assemble and flys perfectly.

    Engine: Saito 180, 18x6 prop

    Radio: Futaba 9ca

Servos: All 3004s except rudder Hitec 585 metal gear, retracts Hitec 75BB

    Battery: 1400MAH NMHi

Ran a tank of 15% through it on the ground at 4000 rpms or less, then took to the sky. The engine runs flawlessly and is still slightly rich. Control throws are aggressive on high. Flaps work! No crazy ballooning..you can run out and catch the thing landing with flaps!

Using Dave Brown Aluminum spinner. Balanced at 6.375" required 8 OZ lead attached inside of engine compartment. Total weight is 15lbs

Using factory retracts, the retracts work perfectly..but the wire is soft and bends regardless of how soft you land (I fly off of grass) The airplane has no tendancy to nose over during takeoff or landing. One NOTE: I had to strengthen the stringers that hold the landing gear in place as they cracked after the first landing....be aware of this.

I am going to try a set of Robart 660 struts with a pair of cut off 3/16 grade 8 hardness bolts (using the long shank as a wire). This should cure the only problem that this airplane seems to consistantly display.

Otherwise, it is easy and fun to fly, gets crowd appeal, and looks awesome along side of my GS Corsair, 1/3 scale pitts and F-16 at the flying field.

    Best of luck
