lear31A, the weather was crappy this weekend anyways, gusting high winds so I'll just wait it out.

Got the battery relocated to it's new home and it took a 1/4 oz on firewall to balance. I added an extra 3/4oz for a buffer for the first time I try the flaps as Ive never used flaps before. I'll probably remove all the weights after a few flights and get a feel for it. Got a 1/2 dozen tanks through the magnum and it's starting to come around, going to burn a few more. Hopefully the reversing y shows up tomorrow.

Looks good man. I bought mine today been going back and forth on the plane and power system I wanted. I work at a hobby shop so I get to play with all the new product. The covering is flawless, which is a first for me coming from any company. I had to put cowl on just to see what it would look like and found this. I figure I will contact Horizon tomorrow and get a new one coming. I bought an OS 46ax to power it, but after seeing how much cowl I have to cut I think I will return it and get a Saito 82 instead

Hi There from downunder

Thought I might show you these photos of my RV8 on floats, an absolute dream, the floats are the plastic ones from ARC (Thunder Tiger).

I'm still debating on the RV-8. I really need to make some room and thin my fleet before I pick up another plane.
I'm looking forward to your flight report on this one. A video would be cool too.
Noddy181, the floats look great. I've got a set of GP floats that I need to use on something. Might be a good route for me to go.
Cheers! BH

Hi and thank's so much for posting so nice pictures!

I was wondering if someone can fit a 26cc gas engine in the nose.

I'm surprised you guys have to cut cowl to make your engines fit. I'm using a Thunder Tiger 75 FS and it fits inside the cowl w/no problem. That magnum 70 must be a big'un.

Too bad they didnt make the 4, i think it is much more sleek looking than the 8 (cowl, swept landing gear, more narrow fues, slim canopy)

So i am going to suck it up and build the gp kit, but otherwise this thing looks nice!

HI
I have the GP 40 size RV4 with a OS46ax, plenty of room in this cowl.
Could you change out the RV8 cowl with GP's RV4 cowl? FREDSEDNO

Mine's done! Test hop last Tuesday. Saito .82 4c, absolutely no vices, gentle landing even with no flaps. Floats forever, flaps let you aim it much better and slow it down. Great quality throughout!

I got one for xmas and I'm going the EP route since I decided not to pull the .82 out of my J-3. I already have too many fuel sucking aircraft as it is.

Any bugs that need to be worked out guys?

I did notice one of the wing tips is loose as if it has cracked under the monokote. Debating on fixing it myself or having HH replace it.

Superb covering job!

Aeroscale, how much deflection did you go with the flaps? I'm using the futaba 6ex 2.4, and the flap setup with the radio is just on a switch so all I got is up or down.

thanks

Hello,

I'm just about finished with my model for the maiden flight. All that is left is to set the control throws and the CG. I am having a little trouble with the throws though. I got the elevator and flaps alright but I am having issues with the ailerons and rudder. I am using a DX-7 with an AR7000 receiver.

The ailerons are Y-ed into the receiver and the instructions call for 7/8-inch of Up travel and 1/2-inch of down travel. I'm a little knew at radio programming but when I set those limits on the radio for the left wing, the opposite takes place on the right wing.

As for the rudder, it is calling for 2 inches. I have the channel set for 150% movement (max) and I'm still only getting about an inch. Is there any other way to increase this?

FalcoNg- I had to use a larger horn on the servo to get the throw on the rudder. You can see it on post 19

Hmm, I have the large horn, guess I'll try moving the linkage outwards. It is outwards for more throw right?

Ok, well I figured out the problem with the ailerons. Had to plug the right side into AILE and left into Aux1, set the wing to flaperon type, then set differential. Since I lost my extra flap slot, I ended up getting a reverse Y harness and using that in the AUX2 slot.

As for the rudder, I'm still not getting enough throw. I have moved to the furthest outboard holes on the servo horn and the furthest inboard holes on the surface horn. I also set the DX7 to have 150% movement (max). I am only able to get about an 1.5" of movement.

What am I missing here?

Hey all. FalcoNg. Just a warning before you fly. Is that servo Y-harness the JR one. If it is, it is not compatible with 2.4 gig. I have an RV8 also (H-9) with a ar7000 receiver and I went the same path you are going. After about ten min of use on the ground The reversed Flap servo began to glitch wildly. Thinking it was a defective unit, I tried another one. Same thing!! Called Spektrum and the guys there told me that it is incompatible. Dont really know why but it is. I ended outjust setting offset control throw on the airleron servo. Place neutral on the horn 20 deg. closer to the leading edge and that worked great. Heres a pic of mine. OS Gemini 120 twin up front.

Correction. They were the 'EXPERT" reversing Y harness by Horizon. Some people ive talked to said theirs didnt start doing it until many flights down the road.

Thanks for the tip you guys. I had a constant problem with my Expert servo reverse Y harness on a Futaba 9C TX. Pretty much always acting eratic, hard to align flaps. Strange. MM
