hey dsales

i will try and help you as much as i can based on my own experiences.

first the car seems to be having a power conection problem somewhere, check all connections to see if everything is secure cause sometimes the battery connections can come loose causing the car to go out of control, the first thing i done with mine was upgraded to high quality servos and radio gear (spectrum radio) the standard work grand but i didnt like the onboard failsafe, the least little sign of moisture was causing the engine to shut down.....if i were you i would simply disconnect this and opt for a micro airtronix failsafe i will give you the link here shortly, your reciever should be grand now unless you got it wet?? did you get things wet? if so you need to stip it all out of the reciever box and dry very well with your hairdryer!

now the next thing i want to point out is have you all the conections pluged in the correct way??if you plugged in your battey the wrong way in to the reciever chances you have fried all the servos and reciever!!!! check these first actually, chances are you havnt as if you did the car wouldnt have ran far.....

the standard set up should be grand as mine worked great for a long time before the upgrading, you must also have your battries all fully charged everytime you run it......

check all the above first and we will take it from there then, its process of elimination with these things.

your engine should be perfect,it seems like wet radio gear to me.

the tyres standard are not the best, the tyres i use are fg dtm tyres and i find them excellent, they need to be heated up first for a few runs but once they heat up they are great,if you are just after getting the car and are not too used to it it will also take a while to get the hang of the throttle on it.

i would reccomend a huge running area as these things are very fast.

that cy,is it a 23cc?

where did you buy the car?

link.....

Thankyou DC2 man, I will check my car on thursday and see if I can find the problem as too busy now.
I haven't touched the standard setup at all, just left it as it was. I started to drive my car from February onwards during the night at a carpark when it was dry and not raining but the weather was very cold, frequently -5 celcius so maybe that messed up the electrics?
I could not have plugged the battery in the wrong way as it only connects to the reciever in one way.

The engine is a CY 23cc and i bought it from modelsport.

your very welcome

that is strange....
i think it could be a faulty transmittor from factory so maybe if the electics are not wet this then is the only thing i can point out.

you know i have dealt with modelsport before, they are nice now in fairness,if i were you i would give them a ring and explain the situation to them also and who knows if you return the (radio gear/servos/reciever/transmittor) they will inspect it and maybe replace them free of charge!!

worth a try....

a car this new i dont think you should have to lift a finger to it.

but if it was me i would try drying out the electrics first,it usually is the case.

let me know how it goes!

dc2 man.

havnt ran the car sinse must change the steering servo now as the new one i had in there miraculously burned itself up..........so i put it in a package and will send it back to hobbythek in the morning.i am using the new futaba 3pm radio now in this and i suspect the settings could be off somehow.i downloaded the futaba pdf manual and am also in the process of reading that.quite complex set up sometimes with digital servos some settings must be changed.

i will be getting it out someevening now this week for a run though!!

stay tuned.

I have checked everything on my car and still cannot find the problem. I dried everything and recharged the batteries and it still would not work. I disconnected the failsafe and it still didnt work so thats not the problem. I think the reciever is faulty, or the on/off button maybe as usually when you turn on the reciever the servos make a slight humming sound but nothing happens.
Im going to call modelsport on tuesday and see what can be done.

hey d sales bummer!!!! its anoying i know the feeling man.

one thing i can say is did you smell the reciver?? does it smell burnt?

i honestly believe there was a short circuit (maybe) are you sure you didnt plug the battery in the wrong way around to the reciever or at any other point??

or your battery may not even be charged properly, what charger do you use?

sometimes they dont charge right if there is a bad connection somewhere, even though you may think it was fully charged.

let me know.

either that or there may be no signal from your transmittor to the reciever, what radio gear is it??
or worst case you just got faulty radio gear.......

best of luck!!

I did smell the reciever, it doesn't smell burnt really.
There is no way I could have plugged the battery in the wrong way, I even tried today and couldn't as the connection wouldn't allow it.
The charger I use is the stock one... Come to think of it the connection is a little bit faulty on the charger, its sort of loose, I will check on it and see if that was the problem.

hey d sales

the reason i said i would mention the burnt up reciver is because i cant count how many i have lost due to plugging in conectors wrong way, some connectors just are stupit and could be pluged in any way......

anyway,i use a traxxas peek detecting charger and it is excellent (and cheap from any shop) it charges fully in less than an hour and a guaranteed full charge every time.....and you know its charging because of a blinking light.

i would check to see if you have a full charge, cause sometimes they dont!!

sounds like you have power to your reciver but not enough.

p.s the stock carson battery and charger are rubbish i didnt even use mine i upgraded them from the off....

Yes I need to start upgrading my Carson soon.
Is this the charger you have? http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/item/TRX-3030X-TRX-Power-Charger-peak-detecting-AC-adapter-for-charging-NiCad-or-NiMH-5-cell-receiver-pac__11c/
Also what battery pack is good? and are the FG bodies a straight fit on the Carson?

yeah that is the one, thats a great little charger.

well the stock battery will be fine if you can get it charged fully,i used a 4300 mah pack from modelsport uk,awesome holding power and not too expensive.

you should check to see if it is charging correct first.

hopefully this will be all thats wrong here.

i dont think fg bodies will fit, some fgs have shorter/longer wheel base but i must check and see maybe some might!!

here is the shop where i buy all my parts, these would be the battries i would reccomend to you.

some thing like this or in the link below

cheers man

no man that doesnt matter, run them out the side as long as the overflow pipe is low enough as not to cause back flow to the tank(preesure build up) you should be grand other wise.

remember steven if you take your pipes off of the carb, the inlet is the one that always goes to the bottom of the carb (the tubing line with the fuel filter at the end of it) and the return goes at the top of the carb..

keep up the decent work man and thanks for sorting out my videos......how??
