I'm new to RC cars, and I want to get an electric buggy to start with. I want a quality buggy, though, primarily for off road use. I also want something that I can tinker around with for a while and upgrade to learn how it all works.

Thanks!

I would suggest getting an Team Associated RC10B3. Since the B4's release you can find the B3 kits for sale now. I picked up a basic kit for 109.99 a month ago and the same shop had a Factory Team for 179.99 (all the graphite goodies, bearings, CVD's, etc). Add in a decent ESC and motor and you have a great beginner buggy that can still hold it's own on a race track.

I like the B3 since I've beaten the crap out of it over the past month and have yet to have anything break. I have had many landings on the crest of the jump that sounded like the chassis was going to snap in half, only to have a couple of scratches on the under side.

You could always go with a Duratrax Evader BX. It's 179.00 with everything included (even bearings). It's a good starter buggy and could be raced with an ESC change and motor change (or just the motor if you wanted to race stock class). Plus it has the year warranty on all parts so if you do break something you can get it replaced for free.

my .02 worth

teh team losi xxx-spec buggy and the xxx-4 are good buggies. eassy to work on for beginners parts are cheap for when you break it and there are enough hop ups where you can make the car better as you get better.

Hey mtcrchamp or whatever ure name is, who do u think u r sayin that traxxas bandit is for little kids. Have u owned one??? Prolly not and from who have u heared that it is for little kids. First of all, i just got mine couple of days ago and it is amazing for the price! I went to my local track with my friend who has a losi xxx-nt, and this buggy was right behind him the whole day. It is very fast and extremele durable. I dont know what the "champ" is talking about but obviosuly he doesnt know much about electric buggies. On the other hand, it would be a great idea to purchase on on towerhobbies for 129.99.

P.S. For all of u ppl who dont know what the xxx-nt is, it is a nitro stadium truck, one of the best u can get. This buggy is an allaround great performer.

well excuse me! I've been racing for 2 years and I have had some experience with the bandit. Yes it is somewhat fast and it is durable I agree, where I was racing it though it was hard to steer. All my friends that race rc cars all say that the bandit is a somewhat beginner buggy, i'm not saying that you are a beginner it's just my onpinion. And yes I do know something about electric buggies. I raced my XX CR in a champion race in Long beach and got 3 rd, so don't say I don't be saying I don't know much about electric buggies because I do. If you can't make a statement without attempting to chew someone out, then don't state it at all, I don't respect the fact that you are trying to chew me out by saying I don't know much about electric buggies because I do.

Excuse me,
I did not try to "chew" anybody u pin the first place. I was just disagreeing with you about the fact that the bandit is a kid toy. None of the toys that manufacturers make as rc cars are not ment for kids, they are ment for rc hobbyiss who are really interested in the hobby. I agree with you that the bandit is a beginners buggy, but i think it is a much better deal most buggys out there. Like i said before, it keeps up with my friend xxx-nt which is nitro and one of the best stadium trucks in the rc world. Now, i am not saying that the bandit will beat any of the top losi buggys or team associated ones but i am saying that it is a really good buggy, that is pretty fast, durable and just plain old fun for the price. Anybody who has owned one i hope would say so. And it is unfortunate to here that the bandit, where u raced didnt have good handling. Because where i race it has just as good handling as anything out there! I am sorry if we started out in the wrong hand, it just got me a little ticked when u said that.
Thanks,
George
