Mounting my Vintage SJ46 with the short Q500 pipe on a q40 Stiletto. The plane has a moulded in section for the pipe, so the reg SJ pipe is too long and would need a spacer to make it fit.

What would be a good starting prop, 8.8x8.25 chopped to 7.8"? Im guessing and need a little help. I did run the engine with a 8.8x8.75 and it seemed to much prop for it.

The SJ46 with the q-500 pipe still has to hit the rpm targer.

Your setup will run more like the older SS-40 engine. Look for a prop that turns about 18,000 to 18,500 peak rpm on the ground.

Don't get hung up on what the pitch is. You have to get the rpm for the muffler to work.

A 8.8x8.75, 8.8x8.5 or your x8.25 cut to about 8" diameter should get you there. Also look at trying the APC 8.5x7.25 - stock, dont cut it - you have enough ground clearance (you might be surprised )
