I know it is summer and flying time for most all of us, but is there anyone
making any headway on new construction? I would imagine that Greg at
G & L Hobbies has been busy making quite as few glass fuselages and I'm
waiting to hear from Eddie @ Lazer-Works on the availalbility of the short
kit he is working on, last estimated time when I talked to him was August.

Following on Bill's posting I will take some pictures of my progress with my Kit tonite and post them tomorrow. Im still working on the main wing and right wing panel and it will take me a while to get some more work done, but your comments will be apreciated. If anyone of you has a finishided or patially build kit with Greg's glass fuse, I would apreciate some commets on the building, internall bulkheads installation, etc. of the fuse.

Thank you!

Hi Guys!!!

I have attached some pictures of the wing panels I have been working on. There is still a lot of work to do (and things to buy). I managed to sheet the horizontal stab last night so the work is on its way. If any one has some pictures of G&L fuse in the "works" or a finished fuse I would like to see the interior, bulkheads, etc.

Here are some pictures as promised.

Thanks for posting some pics of your build Christian. I am
presently in a wing redesign stage as I want to reinforce the
rear portion of the wing with a tube and sleeve also, I am
waiting on my main gears arriving so that I can get the
retract area of the center section plans overlay done.

Hey Guys,

Got two more flights on my 310 sunday and boy was it fun. The OS 55AX's where screaming and i was making high speed photo passes with the right wing tip less than two feet from the ground. This thing is flying like it is on a set of rails tracking straight and no strange movement at all.Landings where straight forward with no bad habits it is hard to tell the difference when flying this from my big Nosen 310's. there's nothing like a great day at the field. keep the shinny side up and may all your landings be with the gear down.

Al,

Good to hear you're havin' fun with the 310's. Jerry and I stopped at the Pizza Ranch , then went over to Mid America, and ended up out at your field a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday night. I looked around but didn't see you there. J. D. put the maiden on that new beauty of his, we got to see it fly. I figured you weren't there as there were no twins in the pits. Are you going to be able to make it to Ames this year, if so, see ya there in two weeks.

Bummer Al, it sounds like you'll be elsewhere for the Ames event. It's coming up in two weeks. Saturday is the multi only and Sunday was added for the rain date and a day for the non multi's to fly also. I just about have my Cessna 337 ready for Ames, I just need the weather to dry out a little so we can get a test flight on it. I think I'll leave the Nosen at home for this one, and take the giant Bobcat in it's place, gee, I wish I had a fancy trailer so I could take em' all.

I just received this e-mail from another RCU member that has a couple of partialy finished Nosen Cessna 310's availalble
for someone that has the time and skills to complete them. This is the e-mail I received from Mr. James Small:

Hi my name is James Small I go by Jimlee on RCU I live in Marion Indiana. The reason I'm contacting you is that it is nice to see that there are still a few of us left who have the passion to build beautiful scale aircraft. As for me, 5 or 6 years ago I purchased a Nosen kit and was not impressed by the methods used to cut parts. So I decided to cut my own. I'm sort of a fanatic about accuracy. So I've decided to build 2. I don't need to tell you how many 100's of hours I've spent incorporating flaps and scale retracts into these planes. I've purchased fiberglass tips and nacelles saito motors and the list goes on.The planes are about 60% built one more than the other. I tried to sell these on craigslist, And all I found was a bunch of arf. pilots that had know idea what they where getting into. I would not sell. To make this story short I would like to see these get into the hands of a true craftsman and finish them. The reason for selling in the first place. Is that my wife and I adopted a little girl and is growing rapidly and eating up a lot of square footage in are home. Was hoping someone in your organization would be interested. I am asking 1000.00 or best offer that is reasonable, considering I have 3 times that invested .I have been an RC pilot and a builder for 30 yrs.And feel it is time to retire my ama. I can be reached at firstfouryrs@aol.com or for more details 260-609-6594 any time. I wish you luck with your club and all of its members, thank you for taking the time to read this and pass along to anyone you think may be interested James.

Definately looks like a great offer for someone to take up and finish.

Bill D.

Thanks for the invite and the welcome. I've been building and flying r/c for almost 30 years now but have never built a twin. The very first plane that I wanted to build even while I was still crashing trainers back in the early 80's was the Nosen 310. My brother has a Nosen giant ugly stik that I got for him while he was in Iraq. (Thank God he got home safe about 4 weeks ago. Now he can retire from the military and focus on building model airplanes.) I just finished a Hostetler Cessna 150. There was an original 310 kit for sale on Ebay that I tried to get, but was (WAY) out-bid. That kit went for over $400. So when I saw a set of plans and instructions for sale for $20, I ordered them. They came in today and it looks like I will be cutting some lumber in the near future. We may even build 2 of them while we're at it.

I think I can build the plans without bothering you guys a whole lot, but without the kit there are obviously some questions that I will have. Sure looking forward to the build and getting the chance to visit with some you. I read every post here on the 310 club. I was especially intrigued about the notion of having a "310 only" fly-in. I can guarantee that my club will be ecstatic to host such an event if we ever get to that point.

I'm going to continue to pour over the plans and drawings that I have and put together a materials list. I sure would appreciate hearing from anyone who has built this plane from a a set of plans. Let's do this thing!!

formed up block balsa on the engine comp. last night ... time to start cockpit , here is a idea of engine cell hatches with scrap wood hanging around the shop to acc. fuel tanks and servos . Anybody know thrust angles on engines ???? do you stay with 0 degrees on both engines from previous models ??? or do we need right angles ! 2 - 20 CC gass will be used .

I got an email from the owner of Songbird III, the last Cessna 310 used in the Sky King series. He promised me pictures next week. If anyone is interested, I'll share them.
By the way, that's the scheme I'm going to use on my first Nosen 310!! Can't wait to get started.
