Just wanted to get on and say how great this radio is. No more silly crystals. Works great in my Shockwave and my cars. Much improved over my old XR3. JR rules!

Don't get it wet!!!!!! I have one of these radios, and the first time it got wet, it totally crapped out. Horizon/JR told me basicly too bad. Not covered under warranty. I wouldn't recommend this radio to anyone wanting it for a boat. They say it will not withstand moisture or humidity at all!!!!!!!

I am sorry you had such bad luck. I will assume that you are talking about the RS300 getting wet and not your transmitter. Anytime you get any electronic device wet while it is connected to power you run the risk of fatal damage. Most of the time you can dry a receiver out and spray it with electronic cleaner or rubbing alcohol and it will be OK. Sometimes the receiver is shorted out in such a way as to ruin it instantly. If any moisture remains on a solder pad, component leg, etc., the oxidation and corrosion process will begin. A dull haze followed by white or green growth. In the case of a modern receiver, the traces and parts are so tiny and sensitive, it is impossible to repair for under the cost of a new one. The warranty says no moisture because some folks might store a radio in a damp basement and have it turn green and furry--corrosion. The warranty surely does not cover my boat capsizing and leaking, or sinking. Most manufacturers only cover defective items under warranty. If they covered every dropped, melted, fried, or corroded electronic gizmo they would never make a profit. I don't know of a sealed receiver on the market. I don't know of any of the manufacturers warrantying water damage. Horizon is known for great service, but has to draw a line somewhere. Waterproofing receivers is part of the RC boat hobby. So is capsizing, sinking, and water damage. The more expensive the equipment, the greater the loss. There is an active thread on here right now about waterproofing receivers in boats. It is part of the hobby I guess. I am sorry you had such bad luck.
