I'd have the strakes on the hull towards the front & keep the rear cleen. Once the boat is up on plane the strakes should be out of the water & only the back 9" or so of the hull in the water. If you have them all the way back like that the water spraying off the hull will hit the strakes & make it unstable & provide too much lift in the rear. This can cause a chine walk issue & cornering issues.

Try to do the set up like like these pics.

you all think 6-8 inches forward of transom will be suficient for the starkes to start? Thanks by the way dicko!

No problems, I'd go to about 12"or so from the transom.

Your build is coming along nicely. keep up the good work.

Hey all!  Haven't forgot about the build   I just got back home a few days ago.  I went up north to be apart of my sister's wedding.  I will start back up soon.  Now that I'm jobless it will be a little harder to do but I will get it done.  I will post some more pics soon.  I will say I wish I would have made the sides higher becasue I may run into some snags when it comes to setting things in but we'll see.  Thanks everyone for remembering the thread! -Edmond

Yes it's the newer version. I ran a couple tanks of fuel thru it last weekend and it ran great. I haven't gps'd it yet. We'll have to see how it goes with a few other boats on the water at the same time.  Doug

Hey all, got some stuff done today.  cut the deck, and set the radio box, etc.  my comment before about "setting things" is about my pipe as you will see in the pic.  The exshaut setup is from WHH dry tuned pipe.  Do you guys think I can get this to work or will I have to go with a plane ol' 90?  Also, what is this black gasket fo and were does it go?  It came with the exhaust kit... -Edmond

Sorry I prob. should have put something beside the gasket to scale it ...It's about as wide as a thumb.

He has plans for that one too ,its narrower to try and overcome the flightyness of the wider version .IM not sure what other changes if any as ive not got round to building one yet.

I think you may have trouble getting the pipe to tune correctly with the wrap forward header. Generally it's not possible to get the pipe short enough to get the best performance with that type of header.
I can send copies of this boat if you want it. By the way, noone ever knew what to call the old one so I'm going to call  this design the Prowler. The boat is 2 inches narrower and a change was made to the bottom. I'll attach a pic to illustrate the changes. So far it seems to be working well, but still some testing to do.  Doug

Got some more done today, here are the pics.  Also I am returning the wrap forward header to get either a Center Out or a 100 deg  As you can can with the wrap forward it hangs over..WAY OVER.  What your guy's take on which one would fit better?  I know the 100 deg is better for performance.

It depend where you want the pipe to exit or hang over? If you want it  central ish then you need a 100-105% header with a  1" offset(narrow bend) .You could also try the all in one welded stainless china pipes ,theyre tuned to a decent length to give good performance. If you want it down one side get a 90% header .
Mart
ps Doug she looks great any chance of a copy of those plans mate
Update cheers Doug plans recieved

Does anyone know about the general distance a center out header sticks out to the right of the engine?  I need to know for clearance reasons...  and if anyone knows the distance on a 100 deg header that would be great also.  I am thinking on a type of cowl I want to make for this boat, so if anyone has any pics of some homemade ones that would be awsome! thanks again for all the help! -Ed
