Just called my local hobby shop to inquire about the cost of Byron's fuel this year. Told me it would be $23.00 for 15%. Last year was $20.00 a gallon. I thought the prices were suppose to be coming down, not up !!!!

What are you guys paying for your fuel, what brand are you using, and where are you getting it at ? I Need help here !!! I live in Southern Illinois, just south of Effingham and north of Mount Vernon.

Thought about making my own fuel, can't get the products to do this.

Thanks in advance

Cary

Are you getting this fuel at your local hobby shops ? Mail order kills you with the Haz Mat. shipping charge. Just can't find any place to get fuel at a decent price, under $20.00 a gallon.

What are they or were they selling fuel for at the Toledo show ? Toledo Ohio is a far cry from where I'm from, the cost incurred in traveling there to buy cheaper fuel would be offset by the cost going there !!!

Buy me 12 gallon and I'll meet you somewhere to settle up !!!!!

I wish I lived closer to Toledo, too far away to make it pay off. I guess I'll pay the $25.00 per gallon and by happy.

Good Thread.

Does anybody know where one can even get fuel in the the NY Metro Area?

That includes Northern NJ.

We have lost almost all the LHS in the area North of NYC.

Thanks,

Allan

Did that. Downloaded hobby shops in Ill. and In. and got pretty much the same message, $23-25. per gallon. So today, bought 4 gallons of Byron's 15% premium @ $23./ gal. in Evansviille In. Gotta support the local hobby shops.

Will seriously look at making it to the Toledo RC Show next year if fuel sells for $12.00 a gallon again !!! If I buy enough, I can rationalize the expense of getting there and, think of all the flying I can do with all that cheap fuel !!!!!

Thanks for the help.

I only buy it in the sealed case. That way it has not been exposed to light. UV light is one of glow fuel's worst enemies

Have you tried Bruckner Hobbies?

http://www.brucknerhobbies.com/

The best way to get good prices on fuel is to do a club or group buy. A couple guys from my club purchased 8 cases of fuel just two days ago from an LHS. Wildcat 15% cost me only $16 a gallon, 20% for $21/gal. Much better than $26/gal another LHS was getting. You can do even better with higher quantities, or by going direct to one of the fuel manufacturers. Many have club programs.

I think some hobby shops are still unloading the fuel they bought last fall during the nitro shortage. I just bought a bottle of 15% for $25. I knew I was paying too much but I felt like it was my duty to help the guy out. There aren't many hobby shops left around here.

I called Wildcat on Thursday and here is what I got on prices. Premium 10% is $11.72/gal and 15% is $13.04/gal. Premium Xtra 10% is $12.04/gal and 15% is $13.17/gal. My son is going to school at UK and is going to pick me up a gal. of 15% Premium and a gal. of 15% Premium Xtra. I hate to pay HS prices plus my LHS doesn't carry Wildcat fuel. I had a friend said he can get Wildcat at another HS about 100 miles away. He said 15% was $17/gal.

Wow, lots of guys are paying an arm and a leg for their glow fuel in this country. It makes me feel good about what I am paying. Omega 5% for $12.99, and Omega 15% for $15.99. The 15% was a few bucks higher just several months ago. Oh, this is from Tammies up in Portland. Jon

Dang, we're the same up in Canada. It's $25/g for both 10% and 15%. No clue why there's no price difference. Sometimes I can find 10% for $24.. This is at 6 different LHS's here, all selling glow fuel for the past 6 months. This includes Omega, Wildcat Premium, XP Fuels, Sig, etc.

It's getting so expensive which is why I'm starting on GAS. I mean it's getting rediculous! I just bought a jug of Byrons 30% for my truggy and that was $45!!!! I mean seriously. Time to start making my own FAI fuel as my best friend can get me methenol for next to nothing.

My visit to the local hobby shop in Mansfield, OH and observed they still had plenty of Wildcat Premium 10% for $29.50/gal. Probably the same jugs that were there last year?

I bought a couple cases at another hobby shop in a nearby town and it was Wildcat 10% Extra for $10/gal. I also bought two cases of 15% Premium at Toledo at the prices shown in a previous post

I bought a gallon of 15% cool power yesterday and it was $24.99 I find thats a lil high for a gallon of glow fuel myself, but I gotta have it. Now and then I have to also buy some castor because cool power is total synthetic. The guy who runs the hobby shop doesnt really keep omega so I have to buy the cool power and just mix some castor with it. For a quart of castor its $18.99 plus tax, man this hobby is killing me, lol.

Man some of you guys are getting raked over the coals!!

I think that some of the shops went pretty long on fuel during the shortage, and still need to sell off that inventory.

I buy Omega 15%, Wildcat 15%, Omega ST, and Powermaster 20/20

They are about: $18, $18, $20, and $24
