Yahooooooooo, just found out about aerofly and tower hobbies today.

Finally, Finally, finally.....

Ordered mine, cant wait. Also waiting on a new 27" Mac to replace my five year old powerbook G4. I have one question at this point.....

I thought I read on here briefly that you can switch between mode 1 and Mode 2 pretty easy. What is this procedure, and how does it come stock out of the box? would it be mode two, by chance -thanks!

The standard gamecommander version in the USA is Mode 2 but you can switch between modes pretty fast by making some minor changes inside the gamecommander as per the attachment. However, if you have a programmable radio, I would recommend getting the usb interface version so that you can use functions like dual rates, mixes, etc.

Thanks Mike,
I can probably change my order if I do it now before it ships. What exactly do the game commander switches allow you to do? I see it has one proportional on top with two flip switches. One of those is not Dual rates? What are the switches used for? Might be a dumb question, but I figure flaps gear and dual rates -is that correct. I have a JR 6102. Thanks again for your help.

Matt

Matt, they are used for stuff like retractable gear, smoke, tow hook, wheel brake, bombs, canopy but not for dual rates. Nothing beats a programmable radio.

Yup, that's the adapter you'll need for JR/Spektrum and Futaba radios

I am a Mac user and I have windows XP installed with parallells . AFPD wih game commander runs well on this setup. I have now upgraded my Mac to Snow leopard. I noticed the crossgrade Platinum edition for Mac and ordered it from Towers. Prior to installation I removed windows XP and Parallels 5 as I thought the Crossgrade for Mac would run directly on my Mac. After two days of trying I am getting nowhere. I am not very computer literate but with the help of Windows for Dummies and Mac for Dummies I have so far managed. What is the purpose of the crossgrade for Mac platinum Edition if it does not work on my Imac.

Did you get any error message during installation? Could you give me the directory path where you installed AFPD?

Hi Sirantony, I need a file called tm.log that is in the AFPD directory. Please try to get a friend to help if possible. I need you to open the tm.log file with a text editor and post or send me the entire content for diagnosis. Some additional questions: What type of video card are you using and did you update the driver? Did you download and apply the latest Mac patch 1.11.7.31?

I downloaded patch from your last message, I think successfully. Whenever I click on AFPD icon i get an error message saying AFPD.exe has encountered a problem and must close. The message reads,

App name. afprod.exe. AppVer 1.11.7.21 modname afprod.exe
ModVer 1.11 7.21 offse 000d5bb

Does this have any thing to do with the program not running.

I must apologise for being such a clueless, pain in the ass. I am a 77 year old senior with no computer training. Thankyou for your continuing help

This is great to find a full-fledged sim for the Mac, I just stumbled on this sim surfing the Internet.  You would do well to register this on the Apple site - a lot of folks check out third party software there.  You would also do well to work through other popular USA web sites (although I am in Canada).  Like Xheli or helipal.

So, will this sim work with my E-Sky transmitter (the one that comes with the belt cp v2)?
6CH 2.4GHz CCPM Multifunctional Transmitter ET6i
Here is a cable that I think might work.
cable for e-sky
...I also looked up how to change a dip switch to disable the CCPM on the transmitter to make it work, from that I understand that I can get it to work with a sim if I make that change.   That said, will this work or do I need a different transmitter or cable?  I also have an "ART TECH" dummy transmitter, would that work?  This one seems to work on the Windows but on other sims on the Mac (xplane and rc helicopter) it doesn't seem to work properly.

Which version of the program would be the best to purchase for my situation?

If you plan to use your own transmitter, it is best that you get the usb interface version, especially if you have a programmable transmitter where you have features like dual rates, program mixing, idle up/down, etc. The Esky controller has the PPM signal already CCPM-mixed and this mix can't be disabled. AFPD cannot work with the mixed signal because a single channel input results in multiple servo movements. I do not have any info on the Art Tech controller. You could get used programmable JR or Futaba radios in the market at a good price.

I thought  the dip switch change disabled the mixing (an undocumented feature of the e-Sky transmitter), .  I am new to this hobby but that is what the video I linked to up above suggested - didn't it?  I could be wrong.

Okay, one more question.  How does Aerofly Deluxe differ from Aerofly 5?  Is Aerofly 5 available yet for the Mac? - ah I see the release date is March 1/2010.

Any word on the following:

- When 5.0 will be available in the U.S.
- When 5.0 will the AFDP to 5.0 update be available
- Costs for both?
- How will the update be handled?

Thanks.
