Ok I have been looking at these to kits and I have only seen the RC8 up close but I do like both kits and I am just looking for the pros and cons with these 2 as I cant make up my mind as to which one to get. I plan on going with the kit form as I want to race and have been told to stay away from the RTR's so thats my plan. I havent looked at engines or radio gear as of yet to go along with the one I do get. So there it is, please help me make up my mind.

I would say to wait for the new RC8 kit to come out and jump on it, never been a losi fan, they have to many issues and "bugs" for me to like em....

I haven't been able to drive my 2.0 yet, but my 1.0 is durable as hell and a dream to drive. From what I've seen 2.0's are dominating the local races. I can't wait till this weekend

A lot of people are going to say 2.0 because it's the "latest-greatest" thing. Do some research and grab the one that best suits you....anything you get here will be biased because all losi owners will say theirs is the best, and all AE owners will say theirs is the best..... I love my RC8 and it's never done me wrong, but I am a AE owner....

Hey thanks guys. I got to thinking since I have a Losi XXX-NT I might as well stick with Losi even though its going to run $150 more than the Associated kit. I know I will be one of the few at my local track running a Losi as most of them are running Associated in most of the classes there. Now I just have to figure out the engine thing, I looked at the ROAR rules for 1/8th scale buggies and im confused as to what they mean on there engine classing as they show it being a .21 Open and I dont understand what they mean by Open, now at my local track most of the guys in this class are running .26 and .28 engines in there buggies. Sorry for the odd questions as im new to racing and im going to be using my XXX-NT to learn with as its not as fast as the 1/8th scale kits.

the xxx-nt will actualy be harder to drive than a buggy, because it's RWD. Thats part of the reason the classed died off, people stopped wanting to actualy drive.... As far as the ROAR rules, any motor that is .21 in size is allowed, what they mean by "open" is in the sense of no restriction on the porting. It can be a 3-port, or a 7-port, as long as it's a .21

Ya I have heard the 1/10 gas truck class is pretty much dead but the good thing is that class is still going here at our track and im up for the challange of the RWD set up to start with as ive never had a 4WD kit so im used to running RWD's, and thanks for clearing up my confusion on the Open meaning.

I see a couple reasons to go AE. It's cheaper and you're gonna have guys down at the track with spares; if you break something and don't have a replacement, there's a good chance somebody else will.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to ROAR rules unless it's a big time ROAR sanctioned race. However, a decent .21 is plenty of motor in a buggy. It will also get better gas mileage than those bigger .26s and .28s.

its a toss up really .. i run a rc8t ft in truggy and a 8ight in buggy .. i think the 8ight is a bit more nimble than the rc8 cause its narrower
