Can anyone tell me if adding Thrust Angle with the ASM Cessna should be done? or does it fly just fine without?
The plane comes with none and the book just says to center your engine.
I read back in this forum and didn't fine anyone talking about it in their builds.

This Bird does not have any from the factory and the book just says to center you engine.

Status: offline 		Yes I did on my first one. I put about 1.5 degrees of right thrust on one of our RCGF 55cc engines. It would track strait down the runway with little or no rudder input. I think if you look at the cowl the face plate has a right angle on it. Just a thought.

I did check the cowl before but I did just take another look and if you set the cowl on a flat surface and lay a straight edge across the nose cone area and measure from your flat surface up to each end of the straight edge, you will not find any intended thrust angle on this Big Bird.
But I think I will give her a few flights without and then decide if I should change it ( mostly because I already mounted the engine!!!) LOL
Also I studied every single build picture on this site and it sure looks like no one added it and I can't find anyone talking of any bad flight habbits.

Status: offline 		I think your 182 will be just fine. As for that web site, it is cool that you get free shipping..... But there is something up... It states that the planes "AVAILABLE Shipping time: 3 Months". This seller is in the country of Moldova which is stuck between Romania to the west and Ukraine every where else. Just makes me wonder....!

Got my new Biela 20x10 prop today, just set it on the DA50 shaft to have a look
First prop I ever bought that does not need to be balanced, its right on the money!!
Still waiting on the spinner.

Status: offline 		I am also adding brakes, I got them from Hobbyking and let me tell you they are Great brakes.
I ordered them thinking that they wouldn't stop a  30# plane, but they seem like they would be able too stop a  50# plane no problem. I took them appart and used the drum side and brakes only, rest went in the trash

Status: offline 		silvers, Just how do the brakes work. It appears like with a servo connected to a flexible wire or something. Like your prop but if you go to the beila site you could have ordered the same prop with mccully logo for a more scale look. I ordered mine from aircraft international.
Mine is the same prop except I have a 35% TMMY cessna with a 3W-150 and had to use a 28/12 3 blade in black. If you ever need to change your prop the also have it in the size your using. It will be a special order and will take about 3 to 4 weeks to get. This is just a note

Status: offline 		Hi Smullis, I do like the prop's your talking about with that Logo on them. I couldn't find them at the time I was ordering darn, but Thank you very much for the imfo and the next time I order one, It wil have it.
Yes the brakes are just like any drum brake in a car but rather then using Hydraulic or air lines you just bring both pull cables up tight under your landing struts over a pully or shaft and conect them to a double arm servo.
You can put the brake servo on its own channel or Y it into your rudder or elev.
I won't have them hooked up for some time yet but I will post another pick when I do.
Don't think I need them but its just cool, lol

Status: offline 		silvers, Well for the price of the brakes it won't break me to give them a try. I have contacted Robart and sierra retracts for info on there brakes but no answer as of yet. When I was in the Airforce in the late 60's and early 70's before I went overseas I was at Andrews AFB.
My roommate and myself built planes in our dormroom. Now back then they had a system something similar to this one except they had a brakeshoe, one piece that had a spring around the shoe with a cable going to the elevator servo. when you put in down ele the spring would tighten around
the shoe the by friction slow and stop the plane. You just put it on the nosewheel. worked great!! I am just gonna try this brake system out and see how the work if I cannot get results from the other two companies. I just might have to drill out the axle hole to fit.

If you read back in this thread you will see how a few of us have replaced the nose wheel with a larger one (the prop needs all the clearance it can get) - just thinking that before you go to the trouble of fixing your brake, you might consider this. We have used Sullivan Skylights. Cheers.

Status: offline 		Simullis, they have two sizes too choose from. I ordered the 46mm but I would order the 70mm. Mine will work but the 70mm would give you a little more room for the axel to clear the shoe spring.
They come with like a 50# tes fishing line, at first I thought was junk but after checking out how much stopping power they have its probly all that is needed. Plus as with fishing line it will stretch some saving your servo and brake arm.
If I use a steel cable I will be adding lite duty springs to the double servo arm.
These brakes work way better then I expected so it don't take much of a pull to lock them up. Brake shoes by RC Pilot64, on Flickr"/>

I was reading back on this thread that this plane always ends up needing nose weight, and that the front strut tends to bend on a hard landing.

Looks similar to the CMP 140 sized Cessna 182

Marketing research, alot of manufacturers / retailer will put out feelers before they even offer it for sale to see how much response it gets. Lets them know how many to run on the first run.
I personally dont buy from them cause of their type of construction. Plastic lined with fiberglass and some kind of resin that tends to crack easily. Been there and not going back.

Just my opinion

For those of you using flat twins in this, I have been a little concerned about the engine getting too hot. Due to the fact that the engine sits in the top of the cowl I have introduced some additional cooling as shown in the photos. I found that the cowl on mine naturally wanted to rise up from the fuselage behind to create a nautural vent, so I created some thin black painted spacer blocks along the lip of the plastic leading edge as it projects over the firewall. Then I made up some plastic card 'vent petals' as you see and covered them in Aluclad. Then I primed with alu primer and sprayed then red. Sanded and scraped to give a worn look...it is not a technique that I have used before, but as it is basically such a crap plane, I thought no harm in trying it out!
