Too bad the weather ruined the chances for a video. Send that plane up here and I will shoot some vids with Kyle flying this weekend...

...or I could just wait until they come out and do it then. I will be too busy to fly until at least late July this year.

Wind? What's a little wind? I ended up flying in a t-storm water dump yesterday. Not something I look forward to doing again...

I added some graphics to the prototype to see if it improved the visibility. The white stripes on the wing bottom made a big difference, as did the top side graphics. I would add some white stripes to the bottom of the stabs also.

Here are a few photos, I still kind of like this scheme.

 Hi Tom,

Will this come as a fast build and close to the same price as the Edge / Extra?

  Thanks

Yes to both, it will be fast build and will be in the same price range as our other 50cc planes.

What is the anticipated date that these will be available for sale?  Do you do pre-orders and ship when products arrives?  I have been wanting a true 50cc class Giles 202 for a long time. I think there is a market niche for this  type of plane . I am sitting on my hands, waiting for this model to become available.

And I no longer have a 50cc plane so the Giles would be a good plane to do another one with. I still don't know why I sold my 50cc Edge. Must have been a senior moment....

It looks like 9/1, possibly a little sooner.

BTW I've decided to get some of them done as an MX2 also, just a change of wings.

I flew it recently with wings from an Extra, it flies quite nicely that way.

I've also added a second wing tube location above the scale location, just about in the center of the fuselage. This changes the flight characteristics slightly (don't ask, it's just a subtle difference) and makes it look really like a pattern plane. The customer can set it up either way.

I have settled (maybe) on using the red/white/black scheme on the MX2s and using the classic yellow/blue scheme like was on the originals for the Giles vesrions.

Comments?

Without knowing the required kit minimum you might want to order perhaps 1 in 20 with a white only covering. That's only a personal view since I don't have a clue to the number of other designs that have been requested in white that completed a sale. The yellow/blue I like but the red/white/black holds no appeal at all for me. The two wing designs could be fun, as would the different wing locations. That by itself could let the owner better "tune" the plane to their desired flight style.

Would you or better yet are you going to have the other wings as an option or maybe buy the bird and include the other wings at a little higher price ???/

If you have tryed other wings just saying kinda a dual purpose plane like you said with another set of wings to fly it with and being as some of us do not have an Extra we need to buy the Extra wings to try on the Giles or you could include them as part of the deal at a different price... Just thinking outside the box albeit a little FAR LOL

Roboto, I think that is what Tom is going to do with this one.  The problem now is he probably won't be able to sell enough to justify getting the MX2 wings in a color scheme to match the Giles wings.  Maybe it will happen, but who knows.  Personally I think it would be cool to have a "multi-purpose" plane like that!

Tom I really really like the secondary wing tube position.  I think this thing will be just about perfect with the higher (though non-scale) wing position, just the way the Cap improved with a higher wing position.

I am saving my pennies until September...

Thats kinda what I figured but 2 wings with one ARF has never been done before I think and yeah you are right not much demand.  I can see where it would not be justified but then again we are talking about the best planes and company around yeah yeah butt kissing I know LOL

I am saving my pennys too and plan to make her electric cannot wait !!!!!!!!!

Actually Tom does sell Extra wings for the 35% Edge. Turns it into a Slick 540. I haven't heard much on how they fly yet though.

Are the servos used on this plane the 9150?  Are they still doing well?  The flying Gaints have review and long thread on these servos and they seem to do well according to the thread.

I'm using 9150s on rudder and ailerons, and 9110s on the elevators just to do some more testing. I'm very happy with them.

FYI I have added these servos to my price list and I have a good stock of them available right now. I will be selling them with the MPI 1.25" aluminum servo arms, $40 for the 9150 and $38 for the 9110. Add $10 to get a 3" or 4" double arm instead.

I'd love to get the G202 in basic white. It's so much nicer to have something you can personalize a bit. I would have bought the newer/larger Edge already but just hate the color scheme on that one. Can't bring myself to do the tear off and recover thing when I'm already laying out this much money. Yep, I know the value is good on all the WH birds but it's still a lot for me.

All,
Here is a comparison between the big Giles and the new Little Giles. You can see the big Giles is 106" wingspan the little Giles is 88"
The little Giles on the DL-55 is ballistic and so 3D-able that even I (3D wanna be) can do Harriers and level hovers with minimal wing rock.

Nice Plane

Call and order one now and I can get it in all white. They are about to go into covering right about now. I also suggest purchasing a spare cowl because I would not be able to stock spare parts for a one-off airplane.

Any word on the status of the giles/mx2 and slicks? I am debating between the three of them. I flew a friend of mines 88" edge and was blown away so I am thinking the slick would be great as well but I have always like the giles.
