Too darn cold and windy here at my pond lately. I am getting closer with the weight. Have not seen the duck hunters since, scared of the airboat I guess!

Can anyone supply me with a link or name/place to get the rubber trim used on the edges of the pictured boats? I'm considering something like it for my ryobi boat.

The next meeting of the NFMABA has been changed. Due to weather concerns and schedule conflicts we will meet on the 24th of Jan. instead of the 17th. Dennis

Can you post a picture of the rubber trim?

Thanks

Edit: took out question about meeting location...

So are you guys mostly gassers or are there any nitros in the fleet? Mine is a plastic hulled deal
I got used from Jack's in Ocala last month. Runs a .40 MDS motor, and seems fast, but light. I think I spent more on getting the rudders right than I did on the boat, but she now sports a pair of air-rudders.

My first working air-boat was a scratch-built 4'x2' hull with a weedeater engine mounted low, ran a flex-shaft thru a tube to run the prop. It didn't go fast, but it was sure fun!

I've wanted to build a twin-prop boat, but the belt-drive is still a work in progress. I figured on running a .28 nitro motor thru buggy drive-train components. I do have an idea that would allow one to adjust the prop thrust angle while running. Just need to figure out what/where to get the pulleys, or what 1/10th scale car I can rob them from :-)

There was one modified Aligator Tours and three home built nitros at the last meeting. Mr. Cajun Gator was also here from La. with one of his nitros. We had fun with them. Come on, there's room for more. Dennis

I'm planning on it, for sure. Been down there a few times since I got this boat, working out the rudders. Now I'm working up an adjustable air-foil or flap for the front I can run on a spare channel to try to keep the front down at speed and get rid of the trim tabs on the back. This thing is fast, but there's too much "slap" at speed. If I trim it too much in back it drags. Too little and it still slaps.

We had a good turn out at the pond I was there till 2:00 pm and I had to leave. If I have the numbers right we had eleven boaters there. It was good to see new some new Airboaters there and hope they come back.

I'll be back. Just modding the boat, spreading the rudders out. I learned more yesterday about setting up a boat properly than I could ever have figured out on my own.

Thanks!

Not that I know of, but I should drag my camera out next trip.

Rudders are done, or at least the latest incarnation thereof. I'm not happy with the look of the rudders, but I'm ok with the framework and the linkages. I think it's time to make a run to the pond and test. :-)

DAMN IT..............

I have been working on the gasser to have it finish for sunday and I have been non stop  working on it, today when I was going to start the engine to test the gas servo, no spark at all, the starter works perfectly, but the magnet in the flywheel aparently got damage when I was welding the prop adapter to it, I heard a click on the flywheel when I was welding but I didn't see any outside damage. I think the magnet inside broke with the extreme heat, right now the metal pieces in the flywheel have no magnetism compare to before

Let me see if I can buy another blower and borrow the flywheel for tomorrow, if not I will only have to use my Reef Racer, or Brushless jetski.

Well I waited to long to have a gas airboat and to test this hull, my pocket hurts right now, I had to buy another $200 ryobi 30cc blower to take out the flywheel, I replaced the damaged flywheel and wallaaa now  works perfectly.....................Oh yeah the flywheel is a loaner, I will returned on monday . and order one from ryobi parts.

See you guys tomorrow. I'm going to bring my Vado HD to record some videos, and my cousin will be there too taking some pictures.
