31 and 37 cannot be used. For high speed you can use 37/41 but will have a slower acceleration. Fast acceleration use 41/45 but will have low top speed.

Has anyone tried, or know if the front & rear RS4 drift cvd's work in the regular rs4 evo? I know HPI's site does not list it as an option for the evo, but my understanding is the drift is the same car with motor placement, and a few other things repositioned.

I recently was given an older rs4, on road nitro 4wd. It hasn't been run in like 5 years. I got it running well, cleaned it all up, the fuel tank was the worst being filled with a half inch of semi-solid green goo. I replaced the hoses and like i said got it running very well. took it out to test yesterday and it ran very well for about 5 minutes, very fast and stopped well. Problem is that it started going slower even though the throttle was working up to top rpm, the car would barely move. Is it the clutch or what? where would i get the parts. I know its in this thread somewhere but not going to read 200+ pages to find out. Doing a search doesn't narrow it down either. Please help as I don't have much exp with rc cars, i am more of a plane guy. Thanks.

Figured out what I was doing wrong. Sorry for this post.

I was having trouble getting the springs onto my tuned pipe, when I realized I hadn't pushed the rubber gasket all the way down onto the end of the pipe.

Give me a couple minutes and I'll have some pics of my rs4 rebuild!

I'm trying to convert my Nitro RS4 3 Evo to a rally car. I've seen some threads where people swap shock towers, but why can't I just clearance the front uprights (to allow full suspension droop) and then put on some longer shocks? I did some crude measuring and 70mm shocks would add quite a bit of clearance (almost 1in) under the chassis.

Do you have a part number or model where we can get these shock towers?

They say you can use the shock towers from the Super Nitro RS4 Rally, #A373. I still don't understand why taller shock towers are needed. I plan on using 70mm shocks, not 110mm shocks.

My rs4 3 evo + is making weird rattling noise from the engine. Anyone know what the sound is?

When heard that sound coming from my engine it was the bearing had fallen apart inside the motor. Remove your glow plug and look at the piston, you might be able to see dings all over it.

Just a couple shots of my rs4's electronics. Servo savers came in the mail today, I needed the servo horns that were compatible with Futaba servos. I bought this car third-hand and I seemed to have misplaced the old servo saver set when I moved last year.

For those curious, I'm running a Futaba 3PL 2.4g fhss paired with the r2004gf receiver. I've been out of the rc scene for quite some time, and I'm absolutely baffled by how small thing is, lol! What I'm more concerned about is the length of the antenna wire. As you can see in the picture below, no more than about 4-6 inches of wire sticks out of the radio tray. I'm assuming the range on these things are ridiculously good though, despite how small they are? Anybody here use the same radio system?

I also put a picture of the old AM receiver just to give you perspective at how small the wire is, haha.

Thanks!

Btw, I'll be having more pics of my rs4 in the next coming days. I've been rebuilding this over the past month, just waiting on a couple more parts to come in at the lhs and I'll be good to go!

Picked up an rs4-3, mounting a big block to it with high speed gearing.
Had to grind away some of the top deck to put the brake in the front.

Now to figure out the linkage, and exhaust! ugh!

First time with shaft drive on road cars though, should be fun aiming for 90-100mph (90 is a safer bet)

So have the exhaust gaskets (A875) always been something annoyingly difficult to get a hold of? It's literally the last piece I need, plus two diff casing sets for the screws (nearly completely stripped), so that I can finally run my rs4. I've got them on order at the lhs, but both parts have been on back order since last week... urgh!!

I'm aware that I can make my own gaskets, but I don't really have a template to use. I don't have any old gaskets. I bought this chassis third hand YEARS ago, just never had the money to rebuild it.

LETS GO HPI!

Did you just placed the break to the front end of the car? Ive never seen that and never thought of it. Can you show closer pics of that please.

Do you just swap the shafts too?

I changed the bigger dogbone cup with the brake shape to the front of the center shaft, then just carried the brake stuff over to the front.
Everything screws right in like it's supposed to be there except I had to grind some material off of the top plate to clear the brake.
Should work just fine, need a longer linkage piece for the brake.

Sorry for the quality, I ran my digital cam over with my buggy!

The pinion is just a 26t and the spur is very small

I tried to do it last night but it will not work out. That plastic piece holding the break bevel on mine is not straight. It's at a 135 degree angle so I would have to find a straight piece. I swapped the break over to the front and the steering servo seems to be on the way and also my shaft did not fit in place even thou I had swapped them.
