OK, here are front and back pics to show them on the car:

You can also see the white washers I added in to keep the tops of the shocks from moving.

My camera is really old, I got it new in I think 2001. Its an Olympus C-2020z. It stil works tho, and I have a bunch of lenses for it, so I keep using it as long as I can. It uses 'smartmedia' cards, which aren't made anymore, so I guess its time is limited.

The Tsais Pipe arrived today!

Came in a nice black box with Tsais logo on it. Quality looks good.
The pipe has buffing wheel smudges on it, showing it was hand polished.

Somebody needs to teach all these tune pipe companies about how to make a pipe..   There needs to be a smooth flow from the piston, the header, and into the pipe compression cone without the exhaust having to make a right angle turn or hit any flat walls along the way. So far I have seen only a few pipes like that. The Tsais pipe has a right angle opening into the pipe/muffler, but there is no curved passage inside to smooth the flow and guide the pressure wave back to the engine. The header is fine, very nicely made, but the square to round adapter could have been better. Its machined very nicely to match the square exhaust port on the engine, and the round side is fine. The problem is in between them, for the exhaust going OUT of the engine, its fine, but for the pressure wave coming back, there are two small walls inside the round part, with the opening in the middle. Those walls will weaken the return pressure wave, causing the pipe to make less power. A better port matching machine job, with curved or at least flat ramps leading to the opening from the outside would have solved it.

Yes I'm splitting hairs, but this exhaust system could have been stronger with only 2 small changes. The manufacturing quality of it is excellent, its just the design that could have been a teeny bit better. Overall, I'm still happy with it, I plan to drift with my car, so don't need any super high speed runs, plus a cleaner car will always be nice.

The kit also came with a spare set screw, a spare spring steel pin to support the end of the pipe, and about a foot of fuel line for the pressure line.

I'll post some pics a bit later.

Well, I thought about how the car would look if it was all silver parts instead of purple, and I think its better as purple. So, no, the purple doesn't bother me at all.

Car-tune, just check ebay for servo horn or servo arm, there are tons of them on there. Sure to find one that works.

Jackedman, I never saw any company offer black anadized aluminum parts. Could paint them I guess, but where the joints are the paint would rub off and you see the purple or silver under it. If I wanted the car to stay all black, I would have just stayed with a plastic RS4, it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper.

I still need to find a good servo saver arm for the steering servo, and find some body pads, those rubber donuts that keep the metal clips from scratching up the car body. I might also switch to plastic wheels. Probably a lot lighter, and easier to glue the tires on. The aluminum wheels look nice, but they are pretty heavy. I also need to figure out whats up with my failsafe. If I connect it, it makes the throttle servo jitter like it can't center itself. The failsafe works, I tested it, but that jittering can't be normal.

No, was easy, the Tsais instruction sheet had a diagram of how to bend the support to get it in the ballpark. I then just tweaked the bend how I wanted after seeing how the pipe lined up. I wanted to make sure the pipe wouldn't vibrate and rub against the aluminum parts. It came out great, has about 1/4 inch gap between the muffler pipe and the shocks or parts. It was also nice of Tsais to include an extra hanger, in case you borked the first one.

Sounds like he got that engine running at max power. One click from being too lean and melting a piston?   lol

I hope my car can run that crisp and hold together. But, he's using a TZ, so I know mine won't be quite as good.

I decided to replace the Tiger Drive roto start on my OS 18cv-r. I got a replacement original OS recoil starter. Seemed a nice choice to me, I won't have to bother with as much stuff when I go to run the car. Well, the recoil starter arrived today, part # 73003000. Fit on the engine great, works great. Just one problem, the damn thing won't fit in the car! Its jammed against the rear diff and rear radio box support bracket. I guess I'll have to hack it up with a dremel tool and cut a big chunk out of it to clear the diff and bracket. I hate mutilating parts like that..

Here is a few, you can see how the plastic casing of the recoil starter is pressing against the rear diff, but the engine isn't over enough to engage the gears. I have to cut away a pretty big notch in the recoil cover so the engine can move over enough.

And here is 2 pics showing it after I hit it with a dremel tool and cut 2 notches in the recoil cover. One for the diff, and another for the radio tray bracket on top. Seems to fit ok now, just barely.

Finally got around to changing out the last philips screws off my car. They were the ones that came with the GPM turnbuckles. I was suprised to note that the threaded holes for the turnbuckles in the GPM suspension parts were not M3 metric screws like all the rest of the car. The turnbuckle screws are actually 4-40 size. Took us a little while to figure it out, but the guys at the fastener shop guessed they were not metric. Its amazing how expensive allen screws can be. I was looking for a set of M3-12mm button head screws to use for the lower motor mounts. The fastener shop can only get them in bags of 100, and the damn thing cost $81, yes eighty-one dollars. I lol'd and said nevermind. Added a picture showing the new turnbuckle screws.

Any of you know about the old Perry pumps and Perry carburetors? Did you know they came out with a setup for RC cars? Seems pretty neat.
