I finished my motor mounts yesterday, there was nothing really wrong with the stock ones I just wanted bigger screws so I made my own threaded for 6-32.I also tapped the header 6-32 and bored out the motor to fit them...I'll get a pic or two this evening.

what are you using for porting. and what is reccomended for polishing?

You've been around awhile, you remember Rex2342? It's the chassis I shipped to him for free after I made it.He returned the favor a year or so later and sent it back with the HGI wheels when he sold his car. If I make another chassis I'll ship the flamed one to you.

For the header porting,I used Nicholson brand hobby files, mostly the square one and I ground one edge of the file smooth for a "safe edge".

Polishing that stock header was progressivly finer sandpaper then turtle wax chrome polish on a felt Dremel wheel.I recently bought a polishing compound set and am gonna try that on the header and mounts.

Hey I need help finding something. I need a new shaft the whole 2 speed assembly rides on but all I could find on tower hobbies are the ones for the rs4 mt and the other one looks different then the one I have now. I have the original rs4 3 rtr. Also I need help with the screws coming out. The screw that holds the 2 speed clutch onto the shaft keeps coming out even with thread lock on it. What can I do to fix that issue? Thanks for any help you can give me.

yeah, i remember him! he hasnt been on in a long while. That would be awesome, but you dont have to worry about it too much. Oh, and for porting you dont do it with a dremel, and then buff it?

Mann, for your screw problem, just get some lock tight its in a small red applier, and the glue is blue, works great. but be careful so it doesnt bind with the clutch at all. Im not sure where else you can get the new shaft though, sorry

Hey Galaxy... that's an awesome chassis. Where are you getting the dimensions for that? what kind of metal are you using? i think i def. need a stronger one than the stock.

is the gasket neccesary on the exhaust manifold? mine has kind of disentigrated. also my .12ss runs fantastic at less than half a tank but is VERY sluggish on a full tank. i leaned it out some but its still sluggish and i dont want to lean it to much. any suggestions?

hm, thats weird, is there a hole in the tank? and when you say gasket, what is that? there has to be absolutely no hole, between the engine's manifold, to the pipe's manifold, to the pipe if thats what you need.

Hey, just thought I share this with everybody. I managed to gear my RS4 even higher. The current second gear is 39t spur x 25t pinion. I used the LST2 clutch bell from Losi with the 25t pinion from Losi as well. I am running HPI 22t pinion x 43t spur as Gear one. Current maximum speed is as calculated below:

    Wheel transmission ratio: 2.92
    gear ratio: 39/25 = 1.56
    final drive ratio: 2.92*1.56 = 4.55
    Engine RPM (max) = 41,700
    wheel circumference= PI*diameter = PI*65mm = 408.4mm

    Max speed = (wheel circumference/final drive ratio) * (max rpm) * (6.21x10^-7 mi / mm)*(60 min/hour)
    Max speed = 69.65 MPH

Let me know if anybody else can gear their car even higher.

In response to Viper, I had the same problem with the exhaust gasket. It kept on breaking or falling off so I run my car without any exhaust gasket now. Engine runs fine. I do notice that some fuel does slip out the bottom. This is maybe because my exhaust manifold is ported. But, the solution is you can run your car without an exhaust gasket.

whats the gasket on an rc? i never heard it referred to that, anyone have a picture, or explanation? maoy, thats some pretty good speeds, im getting really pissed off with my TZ now, because that stupid engine never runs for more than half a tank. And once it shuts off, its impossible to start it, i swear. Im pretty good at tuning, and starting an engine, which is no problem, but seriously, this thing is driving me crazy. The idle will not stay in sync, i would get it low, and it would just raise on me, uh. Another thing, the throttle servo, for some reason keeps opening the carb, even though i have it centered all the way back, so the brake is applied in neutral throttle.

I used .090 6061 or 5052 sheet aluminum then just clamped the old chassis to it,thansfer punched the holes and scribed the outside shape and inner millings....no CNC work there.

The exhaust gasket for the NRS4 is this part: HPI A875
Type it on google and it will come up.

The OS .18tz is a turbo head. I don't have any experience with turbo plugs but one of the guys at my local hobby shop has a lot of experience with it. He told me that turbo heads like hot turbo glow plugs. Also, it takes a very long time to warm up. The guy told me that you have to run the car for about half or a full tank before it warms up.

"Another thing, the throttle servo, for some reason keeps opening the carb, even though i have it centered all the way back, so the brake is applied in neutral throttle." I would say you can adjust the arm that holds onto the throttle valve on the engine. You can take it off and turn it clockwise (not the linkage that applies brake, but the shorter link that holds onto the throttle valve). This will allow you to adjust the throttle without screwing with the brake link.
