I have just built a something extra, and forgot to put on the tail. I intend to fly it as a tailess. My question is with a symetrical airfoil, where would you suggest I put the CG for the first flight? Also how much up aileron/elevator would be needed to counter the loss of tail lift?

How can you fly it without tail feathers? My SSE balances about 1/2 inch behind the main spar, but it is set up for 3D.

it wont happen. thats why orville and wilbur had a rudder. without a vert stabilizer. you just made a frisbee.

I built a Bill Evans tailless once upon a time. Assuming you have a vertical stabilizer, I would start with about 1/8 up on the ailerons. It might fly, but the wing on mine was a lot different from a symmetrical wing. Odd leading edge and reflexed trailing edge. I don't remember where the CG was positioned. Really nice flying, but refused to do an outside loop. You'll need an elevator/aileron mix to fly without a stabilizer.
